My son Josh has been makin' me proud for several years now (never gets in trouble, good grades, good attitude). He had a few rifle kills under his belt when he took up bowhunting. He shot two does last year and a huge merino ram earlier this year.
We went hunting a few weekends ago at my new lease in Schleicher County near Ft. McKavett/Eldorado.
We had several does and young bucks in front of us as shooting light was fading. I asked Josh if he wanted to shoot a doe and he quickly grabbed an arrow!

He's shooting a 52 lb. Mathews Mustang with a 25" draw. He had a Blackhawk Vapor arrow with a NAP Thunderhead broadhead.
I watched his breathing get a little heavy and then he put his game face on. The arrow was on the way and Josh made a perfect shot behind the shoulder. The doe ran off with about 7 other deer. They were headed for a large ranch which borders us about 200 yards away. The doe only made it about 50-60 yards and fell over.
We loaded her up, put her on the golf cart and headed back to camp with smiles on our faces!
I didn't take up bowhunting until I was about 34 years old....so for one of sons to have taken 4 animals with a bow at 14 years old just makes me giddy!
