I don't believe they're, "drawn," per se. I think a winner is chosen based on his/her essay. I guess it would be good to let 'em know before hand. It's kind of a downer when the winner's not at the banquet to receive the award.

Like DonPablo said, a winner is choosen from his or her essay. The editor is going over each one and will choose very soon and let the parent know in hopes to have the winner at the banquet to announce and present the certificate to them.
