Default almost pulled a NO NO

I looked up from my book and discovered 3 Sandhill cranes walking down the trail towards my feeder. I was very excited as I felt sure they are not often harvested with bows. I don't even think Chunky has one of those. Everything was working out . The Video camera was on record and zoomed in on the biggest bird as they fed not 10 yards in front of me. As my bow came up tp 3/4 draw my mind was whirling. " pick a spot" ...."dang that's a little target".... "where is the kill zone on a Crane?".....I told myself to time the shot for when he reached for another kernel of corn he would be stretched out and I could send the arrow in where his neck hooked to his body and out his egg hole . That should wreck him out no matter where his goodys are. "OK next bite of corn"....."Corn....Cranes = Geese=Ducks= migratory game= Ticket. I let down and an just watched as they spent 20 minutes eating my bait. I Almost not only shot a Crane over bait but videoed myself doing it.

would it be baiting if you set up farther down the trail in the dirrection they came from? it does say "OVER" and not "on the way too".
with you writing "they walked down the trail" must mean they fly into a location and walk to your feeder. bet those birds saw the corn from the air. if they are roosting in the area and didn't continue on South . you might have another oppertunity.

good catch Buff, that would have weighed on you.

What's that they say on TBH? "It's all about the video"! The game wardens would have appreciated the help.
