Default Grunts and Gobbles !V - Fellowship hunt dates set.

Mark it on your calendar. The fourth annual Spring Fellowship hunt has been set.

THIS YEAR WE ARE HUNTING THE FIRST WEEKEND OF TURKEY SEASON!

We get first whack and the birds won't even have been disturbed. What a deal! It's also the full moon weekend. Hunt dates will be from noon on Friday March 31st (hogs only on that date) through noon on Sunday April 2nd.

We will have the traditional "cursed" concrete pig contest and the balloon contest and more activities may be added. Souveneir T- Shirts are available but you must pre-order with your deposit or at least two weeks prior to the hunt. We hope to have a good raffle and donations would be appreciated.

WE WILL OPEN THE BOOKS ON JAN 1ST AND THE HUNT IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST FIFTY FIVE PERSONS SENDING IN A DEPOSIT.

Here are some preliminary details. These are pretty firm, but we reserve to right to make changes up till the formal announcement comes out in late December.

Cost: $135 total for a two day hunt (regularly $160). A NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of $67.50 is required, however, if you cannot come and you can get someone to take your spot, you may transfer the deposit to that person. LSBA is allowed to retain $25 per paying hunter for our treasury.

Lodging: Three bunkhouses, some small cabins for couples.

Kids: 16 and under Hunt Free

Location: Brushy Hills Ranch - A 13,000 acre bowhunting only ranch. Four pastures, low fenced, each hunter is guaranteed a spot either along the feed route or with a feeder. In order to be fair to late arrivals we will draw for spots. You may change locations after the first evening hunt, to any spot still available.

Real Bowhunting: This is not an easy, canned hunt at 200 pigs in a pen but a real challenge. It's bowhunting at it's finest. It's a great ranch and they have done a lote to support LSBA. Please thank Pete Denney and Rusty Brothers for supporting LSBA.

I love this hunt. Hope to see you there!

jmc,

It is almost 13,000 bow only acres, (works out to 20 square miles), and has been that way since the mid-nineties. It has plenty of feeders, bunk space and they corn the roads nightly. We will have one of the pastures reserved just for this group. There are fair numbers of hogs and a good amount of turkeys....not a slam dunk, as mentioned, but game is taken on each of these hunts.

Here is a link for a little more info:

http://www.sabinalchamber.com/denney.html

The pics are outdated as in the last two years there have been a few 160 class bucks and a 150's taken. All this on a low fence ranch that does not protien feed (dosen't have to as the Guajillo has almost 30% protien naturally).

Are there stands in place that we have to hunt or can we set up a ground blind if we like?

Greg, they have some stands set up. But you can bring your own. We took a double bull last year. You will draw for an area to hunt.
