Default Bear Spray on a Wild Boar?

Since it is illegal to carry a pistol during archery deer season, has anyone ever tried Bear Spray on a Wild Boar? This would be good information to know if Bear Spray is affective or not. So please share with us any info that you may have first hand or from a friend.

This is from the Texas parks and wildlife web site:
Archery and Crossbows
(see Artificial light in Restricted Methods section)

Only the archery and crossbow equipment prescribed in this section may be used for taking game animals or game birds. Crossbows are not lawful for taking migratory game birds. The prescribed archery and crossbow equipment may be used during any general open season. Archery and crossbow equipment may not be used to hunt deer during the Muzzleloader-Only Deer Season. It is unlawful to be in possession of a firearm while hunting with a broadhead HUNTING point during the Archery-Only season, except a person licensed to carry a concealed handgun in Texas may carry a concealed handgun. NOTE: A firearm may be possessed in camp, in a motor vehicle, or while hunting lawful game other than whitetail or mule deer and turkey (e.g., exotics, feral hogs, squirrels).

It's legal to carry a pistol IF you have a CHL (see my bolding of the TPWD wording above in your post). Cheap insurance and easy to take/pass the test if you feel you need it against hogs and also more so today if hunting the border with the influx of the drug mules and gangs like MS-13 crossing in.

As to the boar/bear question...have no info but would wager a guess that anything that would deter a bear would work pretty good on pigs.

Personally I'm more worried about a sow with shoats then I have ever been about a boar. Seems I'm always getting chased around by the female half of the swine family. (man there has GOT to be a joke in there somewhere...lol)

Hunt hard, hunt safe and welcome to the campfire here.

Some morning research over coffee

Bear Spray website has testimonials from Africa etc that says it works on a variety of critters. If it works on bears, mountain lions, elk and African game a feral should be detered by it as well.

I say we all chip in and buy some, give it to Tomme, spray him with feral sow love potion number 9 and cut him loose in the brush. We'll know if works by morning.

Dang! I thought that FREE cover scent they kept offering me smelled funny. Now I know why I get so many invitations to go pig hunting with these guys. They're using me as BAIT!
