Traildust I hunted there about 9 years. I love the ranch, but there's a good news bad news aspect.

The good news is that it has the finest facilities of about any day lease I've ever hunted. A walk in cooler, an ice machine that was free to use, good kitchen facilities in a hundred year old four foot thick wall building and a club room if the weather was bad. Rooms were good too with one bath for each of four people.

I stopped going when they made the minimum 130 on their deer. There were only five or six deer taken that year and I believe two or three were taken by the ranch manager, his wife and one of his helpers. I don't mind a 120 class minimum (which they had in force the previous year) or even a 130 which they put in on my last year if I am seeing deer of that category, but I wasn't. Seems like I saw fewer deer every year. Only two or three bucks harvested by paying guests on a 5,000 acre ranch is not good enough odds for me.

Now they may have turned things around. I think they had a coyote and bobcat problem and I think they have tried to thin out the coyotes. They also stopped taking doe in at least one year and that might have helped them increase the number of deer on the place. Maybe they limited the number of hunters as well. If so the ranch has potential.

I'd be curious as to how your hunt goes. I don't have to shoot something to have a good time, but need to feel like I have a chance. It's about the dream not the meat so if you see a bunch of big boys let me know. I might want to go back

hey traildust, i went to the lincoln for 3 days last yr, the facilities are awesome. Theres 4 big rooms with 4 beds in each room and a bathroom in each room. Thers a big like living room with tv, dvd and cable. Now the hunt was different from what i heard before i went. I thought there was gonna be blinds and feeders but i was wrong. Good thing we brought extra's. The ones they got there weren't in to good of shape. Theres like 5 pastures and prety much just pick one to hunt in and go scout for trails and anything that looks like theres deer in the area then just put your blind up and wait. Some of us saw a lot of deer then some didnt. Where i was i had bout 20 deer every morning and evening but only saw maybe 2 bucks the whole time. 3 of us went and we shot 3 does. Like Tomme said 5000 acres with only 3 bucks harvested for all the paying hunters is not good enough odds for me. I dont plan on goin back but we did have a really good time. They can have up to 16 hunters there and ther was i think 9 counting my group. Met some good people, had fun.

Please do, I hunted there years ago. To many years to make a comment, but back then I really liked it. I would really like to do a LSBA fellowship hunt on the Lincoln Ranch. Bob

I talked via email with Carl one of the owners. They are now on an MLD program. They are supposed to harvest 24 doe and 24 bucks this year. That will be a huge step up in the buck production. Most of the bucks they hope to take this year will be cull bucks, but there should be some wall hangers as well. They did shoot a 130 class Openign weekend.
