Check out AA is doing to traveling bowhunters.
http://www.bowsite.com/BOWSITE/TF/bg...es=39&forum=36
Since AA is a Ft Worth based business, we need to express our concerns for this type of treatment.

JerryG posted this on TBH and I thought LSBA might want to get involved.

I just went onto the AA site and emailed customer relations on behalf of LSBA expressing our concerns and asking them to reconsider this policy. I will also place phone calls tomorrow to talk to someone in person. I ask all of our members to go to www.aa.com and email american airlines and nicely express your displeasure with this policy. The more voices the more likely we will be heard. The sooner we act on this the more likely we can get it changed and prevent other airlines from following suit.

Email sent. If you remember years ago; AA and NW were two airlines that had put into place, (temporarily due to response they received), a total ban on carrying archery equipment and large antlers. Same ol same ol.

Email sent to AA regarding ...Archery Equipment

FYI: Continental's Website reads as follows (As of today)...

Continental accepts one item of archery equipment per customer in lieu of one piece of free baggage. All items must be properly encased in a suitable container.

An item of archery equipment consists of:

1 bow case containing bows
1 quiver with arrows
Maintenance Kit of sufficient strength to protect items from accidental damage.
Archery equipment carried in addition to the free baggage allowance will be assessed at current excess baggage charge.

Continental is not liable for damage to archery equipment that is not contained in a hard-sided case.

BUT... if you're bringing a bicycle with you you'll have to pay that $80.

Ok I too sent in a reply.

For those of us who are computer illiterate, you might post some directions for how to get to the place to file comments. Once I hit the link that Gary had put (above) I had to do some searching around the AA page to get to the right place. I know for most of you guys this isn't a problem, but to make it easy...

In my email I not only pointed out that I would not be flying AA, but thanked them for helping guarantee my son's job security. Jon, who is an LSBA member, works for Delta/ASA at DFW.

I glad this was found out. We are going to Maine for a bear hunt in mid-September and never thought about any problems with our bows. Has anyone heard anymore about this other than AA being the only culprit? :?

		Tomme...this should do it:

https://www.aa.com/apps/utility/cont...questid=885467
FYI...In the future if you hit a page that opens in its own window, without a browser heading to be able to copy/paste the http addie....just right click the subject box, click on properties and it will give you the URL to copy.

Sent mine, i realy would have expected more response than this.
<remember archery in texas or any state is what we make of it. And the #1 way they can hurt us is for bowhunters not to respond!!>
Come on guys lets support our passion and protect us- and others from being over charged just to carry there archery eqt!

		BH26,

I'm sure lots of folks replied, just didn't post about it. Also this was posted on a few of the other state and national archery boards and I'd wager AA has received over a few hundred if not a thousand or so replies to this. One of the posts had a sampling of replies from AA and they have stipulated that because of the volume of emails/calls/letters they have received, they are no longer responding to each one individually. We are getting there attention

But, if that's the case, I would have to wonder, does it follow that since they have too many to reply to, perhaps now they're not paying attention to them?
