Default BOWHUNTER EDUCATION CLASSES

Just thought I would give a heads up on the bowhunter education classes that will take place in 2004. Just wish there were more than one in the Houston area.

Being one of the original IBEP instructors in Texas, I would like to strongly urge any and all bowhunters that have not taken this course to do so. If you are new to the sport and have yet to take your first whitetail, this program is truly a shortcut to success in the woods. Even the old timers can pick up a tip or two. In my opinion, this 8 hour course is equvlent to at least 4 years of experience in the woods.
I wish that this had been available when I started bowhunting in 1960, Bambi would have had to do some serious "Duck'in & Dodg'in".

Bobster,

Thanks for posting the info on the classes. I have been the state chairman for the bowhunter education program for the past 2 years and am also the lead instructor for the class in Houston. Classes are normally based on demand and taught by volunteer instructors. To have more classes we need more instructors. I am also holding an instructor class in the Houston area in May if you or anyone in the area is interested in becoming an instructor.

Graybow,

There will be multiple classes scheduled in the DFW area in late spring thru summer. Keep an eye on the TPWD web site www.tpwd.state.tx.us for current class schedules.

Merry Christmas to all.

Jack

Default Bowhunter Ed Instructor Opportunities

For what it's worth, there's an IBEP Instructor In-Service Training Seminar scheduled for Saturday, January 31 at Camp Bullis' Outdoor Recreation Center. There is also a "NEW INSTRUCTOR" certification session set for Sunday (February 1) at that same location.

The IBEP has offered to have an instructor certification workshop at the Anniversary Banquet. If anyone is interested attending a session while they're in Kerrville, please email me here, or by replying to our home email (milnrick@flash.net) or get with DoubleJ.

We definitely can use the help to make the course available in more areas.

Y'all hunt hard and stay safe....

Who has signed up for the Houston class this next month? Is there still room for more? Does anyone know?

Welcome Archer 156. Glad you joined the LSBA Forum.

Now for the bad news. The Hagerman drawing for the 2004 season is over. The application deadline was June 14th this year. The actual drawing was done last Monday, the 21st. Sorry you mised it.

I'm a Bowhunter Ed instructor and we had three classes before the Hagerman application deadline. We are not planning any more classes this year. There is not enough interest except for the Hagerman hunt.

"But I do have some good news", rumor has it I was drawn for Segment A and my son was drawn for Segment C.

Here's a link to TPWD website Bowhunter Ed page.

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/edu/hunt...tml#bowhunting

There may be another Bowhunter Ed instructor course in the Spring of next year.

Again, welcome to the LSBA Forum.

Default IBEP Basic and Instructor Course

Archer 156

There's a way you can fill your 'IBEP' course needs and get instructor certified this summer -- just in time to start passing it on to folks in your area. There's a combination IBEP Basic and Instructor course happening in Austin on July 31. Check the schedule via the attached link:

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/edu/hunt...tml#bowhunting

Additionally, there are 2 more courses being offered in San Antonio (Camp Bullis) between now and September. They're the third weekend in July and third weekend in August. I know there are still several openings left for these two classes. Call 210-295-7529 if you want to get on the list, or send me a PM with your phone number and contact info and we'll pass it on.

Hope this helps

Bobster,

I am the instructor for the class in Friendswood on July 24 & 25. At the present time there are 3 people signed up for the class. Give me a call or e-mail me if you are interested in attending.

Friendswood is south of Houston between Webster and Alvin. Mine are the Houston classes.

Double J, put the wife and me down for the course. I will also try and talk Frontloader and his son into taking it, but cannot make any promises. Email me about the details. Bob

Double J, what would be the cut off date to get into your class, I talked with another brother and he is interested, but not sure if he will be in town that weekend.
