Default Brandon's Doe

It was the last day of the hunt and I still needed to kill a doe. For once I had experience the problem of too many bucks. They would not let the does come in and feed. Every time the does even got close to the feed, the bucks would run them off. I knew that if some does came in early in the afternoon, I would have to take one. Well it was still 15 minutes before the feeder went off, but I had tossed out some throw corn. The does came in and began to feed on the throw corn. The larger of the two does would not ever commit to coming into the field of view of the camera. I knew the feeder would be going off any minute, so when the larger doe spooked and ran off, I knew I would take the other one. She walked back and forth for a while, and then decided to continue to eat the throw corn. She was more interested in the corn, so I knew I had the chance to get a full draw without being noticed. I came to a solid anchor point and the only thing I could think of was what Marty had told me before we had gone out that afternoon. He had told me to concentrate on a point and begin to make figure 8's on that spot. When you feel comfortable, then just release. Well that worked, because the arrow hit the exact spot where I had been making the figure 8's. It was a solid hit, and she bounced of bushes as she ran off. She only ran for about 40 yards and wound up right under a bush.

This was a hunt I will never forget.
