Thumbs up Desnaking Clinic at the 2012 LSBA Banquet

DeSnakeing Clinic hosted by Wayne Lain of Snake Breakers

Cost: $50.00 per dog
Time:9:00 am till noon (based on number of dogs)

The role of the workshop is to training pets and hunting dogs to avoid dangerous snakes. Live Rattlesnakes and Water Moccasins that have been rendered harmless by removing the fangs and taping the mouth shut are used during the clinc. He will introduce the dog to the sound, smell and sight of the snakes. At a precise moment the dog alerts on these senses Wayne gives a brief shock with the shock collar. The dog believes it is the snake doing this awful thing to them. It does wear off over time;therefore, reintroducing the dog to the snakes in a controlled setting is recommended every year.

Jo, go ahead and put down Abri. Looks like she did not learn anything last year because she is still playing with snakes. She killed a banded water snake the other day. I think it is a girl thing, never learns the first time.

Bobster - has your dog been vaccinated for snakebite? We've had our Brittany de-snaked twice but have also taken to the vaccinations as well. If you haven't, it's cheap K-9 life insurance requiring an initial and booster 6 months later.
