Default Whistling Ducks

At least thats what I call them. They (up to 20 or 30) are eating all my corn before anything comes in. Any suggestions? What is the legality of shooting some of them!! Thanks!

Brad, wait until I am with you. Should not be any problems then. No, you are not allowed to shoot them, even if it was duck season. Then you would be hunting duck over bait. I have the same problem. While I was turkey hunting, I had anywhere from 1 to 30 that would land and like you said, they would eat everything before anything else had a chance. I would scare them off while I was there, but they ate good when I was not. Bob

You could shoot at them with your trad bow...no danger of breaking the law and you might get close enough to scare them..LOL

You could try one of those owl or hawk decoy things, that are suppose to scare off birds.

You could stop feeding for a few weeks and they would probably give up and become someone else's problem.

You could set your feeder to go off after dark and not feed in the morning for a bit.

Do they usually sleep on the water? When I was at Freer, I had one come in after dark and lite on a wallow I was hunting over. It tucked its head like ducks do and went to sleep. On a WALLOW!!!!! They can be very annoying. Making all that noise and them beady little eyes and teeth!! Great big teeth all over the place and....

Uh, what were we talking about again? Oh, can you shoot a whistler? Da Bobster's the expert.

Brad, are you sure you are at your lease and not mine?
That sure looks like the pic that I have at my lease. I was looking for my pics, but guess I haven't down loaded them yet. Have you been sitting there when they come in and start feeding? If you pay attention to them, they have look outs. There will be about 4 of them that will be looking in different directions while the others eat. That was pretty interesting until it started getting old after a couple of days. Bob

If you do this, I would love to be there to watch, but then, if you are as bad as Chunky is making you out to be, well then nevermind. Bob
