Default TPWD Draw hunts

I will be entering all the Spring turkey hunting and Alligator drawing this fall. Nobody enter so I can get drawn. If the hunt allows me to take a friend I will pick one of y'all. LOL

Just incase you didn't know....

You don't have to use a tag off of your license on draw hunts for deer. I want to hunt a particular state owned land for Mule deer that is draw only. Problem is you only get one tag on your license for a Mule deer buck. I have to give my outfitter a deposit way before they even have the draw for the State land. I e-mailed the TPWD about that. Here is the response:

We thank you for your comments and suggestions and we have good news that you may not realize. The Special Drawing Hunts for deer, both whitetail & mule deer, those fortunate to be chosen for a hunt, do not have to sacrifice a deer tag(s) from their license, we supply TPWD tags specifically for those hunts when an animal is taken.
Therefore, you can still utilize an outfitter for your Mule Deer tag on your hunting license and still have the same opportunity to apply for any of the Mule Deer Draw Hunt Categories as everyone else that would like to apply also and not have to use the tag from their license if chosen.
Draw Hunt areas such as the Matador WMA, do have restrictions on the mule deer bucks and some on whitetail bucks to focus on older-aged deer for harvest instead of any buck, primarily younger bucks, being legal to take by the drawn hunter.
Please take the opportunity in using the Special Drawing Hunt system in applying and we look forward to you staying with our program and good luck this coming fall in the application/drawing process.
If we can be of further assistance to you, please feel free to contact us at your convenience and have a great week.

I'm gonna put in for some of the deer hunts this year I think. I'd like to get that one over near Andrews.

Timm, I hope you get in on the turkey and gator hunts. I've never been interested in turkey hunting so you've got no worries from me. Gators will also have to wait. I think I'm going to be looking for a nice 8 or a 10 point this year. I don't have a wall mount and I've been wanting one for a few years now.

I didn't draw a hunt this year, so I did the standby thing and got to hunt.

Tracy,
Well it is about time you set a goal to get a nice wall mount.

I hope I get drawn for at least one turkey hunt. Love chasing those birds.

RNS,

Good deal on going standby. Where did you get to hunt?

Timm, as you probably know, I'm not too big on the trophy thing. The only reason I want a wall mount is akin to people wanting a Norman Rockwell on the wall in the dining room. Just something to look at every now and then.

I figure I'll get one eventually. Not in too big of a hurry.

If I still had that lease in Maverick, I'd sure nuff invite you over. But, something about the grand kid wanting the property to play on his ATV got me the boot.

Tracy,

You will get your wall mounts soon enough. I am going to shoot a doe this year and get it mounted. How's that for confidence????

Hey, Abilene is having a trad shoot on the 21/22. If you get a chance, you should come out and shoot the course.

...well, if gas prices aren't kicking your butt like everyone else.

I thought about putting in for the archery gator - but don't have a clue how to hunt them so I am going to pass on em for now - but I am putting in for the archery muley and private land pronghorn. I am going to put in for the Desert Big Horn as well - a little bummed that it is a rifle only hunt (but I won't pass on the opportunity to hunt bighorn for 135 bucks!)
