Cool Diamond C weekend...

Fisrt, I want to thank Skylar for having us out. Great to meet you and your family, welcome to Texas. Sorry about the finger...one pig, one knife.

Now, for some pixels!

Put $1 per hit on the line and this little guy will hurt your wallet...

After some practice shots from the ladder stand in camp, it's time to hit the stand and try to beat the storm. Liam sat with me in one of the elevated double stands...

After spooking off some early visitors, we finally learned to sit still (for a couple of minutes at least) and had some animals come in all the way for close inspection...

A group of sheep including this hoss...

First Blood I...Thankfully the storm missed us and really helped to cool the evening down. After seeing several good sized boars moving around early, we passed on some 30-40#ers early in the hunt. On two different occasions we had a pair of 200#ers moving in from the west only to be betrayed by the swirling winds and have them flip around. At last light we decided to take a little pig when he gave a good angle at about 18-yards. This was Liam's first trip to the stand with me and he was able to witness a clean trad-bow harvest with the pig dropping insight. I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

One word, LANDSHARK!!!!

First Blood II...my brother-in-law (Trey) took his first animal with a bow (a 1970's Wing recurve) at around 20-yards with one arrow taking out the top of both lungs. When we pulled around to pick him up, he had already bloodtrailed the hog himself and drug it to the road. Let's hear it for the new guy!

Great job and pics Joey. 200 pounders are over rated, give me one that will fit in an ice chest any day. congrats to the hunters.

I hear ya, Mark.

This has always been a great ranch to kill a pig and Skylar's got the place looking real good with lots of hogs right now. With his Summer Specials, I'm planning on taking the kids back with me real soon...I still wanna get an arrow in one of them big, smelly, nasty tastin' ones with cutters that I could see at 100-yards!
