Default You gotta try this Bowfishing stuff

My son and I recently had the opportunity to go on our first bowfishing trip. We went out on a Friday night with Jack Thatcher, owner of South Texas Archery in Victoria. We didn't get to fish long due to a thunderstorm that came up, but it was a blast. My son always whups me at 3D shoots with our recurves, but when it really counted, old Dad came out on top. I hit 3 out of 4 fish and Spenser got shut out. Not that I would remind him of that or anything. It was a blast and I would highly recommend it for some fun recreational boating and archery. If you are in the Victoria area and need someone to go with, Jack has a huge boat rigged out and takes people out bowfishing on a regular basis, so he can hook you up. If you are up in the Vanderpool area, might give Bryan Keeling a call, he has been slaying HUGE fish up there for a while and might can help too.

I need to go with you guys and have you show me how to do it. Timm Getts and I took some shots at some Carp out at Brushy Hills and I can't even tell you the results. Course maybe Timm was just lucky.

Bowjunkie, tomme and I share that large beer belly that blocks our vision looking down. Tomme probably scared the fish whith the shadow that looked like moby dick and they got away. Tomme keep the reply PG....

Hey I was getting real slim (until I went to the coast for a month). Besides Bob you haven't seen Timm Getts. If I would have scared em off by looking like Moby Dick then Timm would have .....

And yep Bowjunkie, he went one up on me with those fish and it was even my bow.

Default fellowship hunt

Well Tim, if you join us on the hog hunt you may have a chance to hear tomme scream like a little girl.... I guess if I'd killed the hog first shot it wouldn't have happened, but I never knew Tomme could sing soprano. As for the Crown, we need to keep it flowing it gets cold on those west texas nights, heck on this hunt it may get down to 78 degrees at night.

Oh no more crown hey. Well guess there's no more point in missing those shots at the fish so you can win. See if I put you on the best hog stand again.

As for you hogslayer there I am crawling through the brush on hands and knees because I'm a better tracker then you, while you put your bow in the car so it won't get dusty(LOL). Then when we find the hog you (and 12 other guys almost trample me to death in a rush to get away from the hog and back to the the truck) and then you want me to stand on the other side of the hog and shine the light while you shoot at me. That wasn't soprano, that DON'T SHOOT! DON'T SHOOT! was simply in my best "projected to carry" baritone.

So Timm can you come out and play Sept 12-14th? See also fellowship hunt threads.

Default I remember....

I remember you tracking my hog, but I remember that Robert Cocran was on his hands and knees and you were in the brush behind him.....As for the voice it successfully carried and I remember. I don't think people that are not on these hunts can appreciate the good times we have and the fellowship we develop.

What could bond a bunch of guys more than being in a cabin with people passing gas, burping, telling stories about the missed opportunities, checking out bows and wondering just how hot it can get.

Tomme,

I am going to have to get you to austin and I will get up with Brett (the guy I was mentioning about the Bowfishing rep position) and get him to take us to Choke or something. Better yet, I will get down your way and we can put a generator on my boat, or just take his, and shoot at some non-gamefish on the flats. Stingrays are fun targets....
