Default Lake Conroe Grass Carp Shoot 7/9/11

Just wanted yall to know about the upcoming bowfishing tournament on lake conroe.

The Texas Bowfishing Association has joined up with TPWD to try to get rid of some of the grass carp on lake conroe. This shoot will be a numbers shoot meaning the team that shoots the most fish wins. However, each grass carp will count as 10 fish!
It will be $100 per team (up to three people per team) and will be 100% payback to the shooters. This will be a 12 hour shoot from 8PM to 8AM and we will be restricted to north of the 1097 bridge due to all the houses on the lake. This shoot will be open to all types of boats.

FYI, we are always looking for additional sponsors so anyone willing can contact me or you can get my email from the flyer link.

OH, this is sooo good, wish we did not have another bowfishing trip already planned for that weekend. I am going to pass this along to some of my buddies.

Glad to hear it. The grass carp have become a real problem and their numbers need to be reduced.

Typical lake authorities who are paid by the homeowners and do not really care about the fish. These 220,000 carp they put in the lake a few years ago have eaten all the grass out of the lake. Back when there was a bunch of grass in the lake about 2 years ago the water was the clearest I have ever seen Conroe and saw many many very large bass in the lake! It was amazing how big those bass are and how many we saw! There were even a few tilapia (I would assume have migrated from the neighbor power plant lake) living because of the grass. Well the tilapia are all gone now....the carp ate all the grass last year and there was a huge die-off this winter...there were thousands of dead tilapia in the lake....ok I will get off my soapbox.
Just hope the water is clear enough to fill the boat with grass carp!

My Axis Quest began about 5 years ago, I have been several times to several Axis rich environments, however, I have never even had a glimpse of one on the stand much less in range for a bow shot.
'
Well 1 1/2 hours into my set on a water hole in the back of the Hatch Ranch, Mountain Home, Tx. Delivered the perfect quartering away 12 yards shot, he made the proverbial double back leg kick, bounded thru the edge of the water hole, ran straight away from me for about 40, spread his fronnt legs in an effort to stay standing. It was a futile effort the Bear Atack, Trophyridge 300 tipped with the 100 gr Ulitmate Steel BH had masterfully done it's damage.

Other visiter to the water hole were 6 Nice Female Oryx, Huge Pierre David, 5 shooter Fallow bucks and 15 or so does. It was a zoo all evening.
