Default Freezer is officially full!

What a great weekend! When Saltwaterslick asked me to go to Del Rio and kill a couple of does, I said sure, I'll go. I had no idea what a great weekend this would turn out to be. I couldnt aks for a better host! The hunting was fantastic, the game was plentiful, the scenery was awesome and the memories are priceless!

I had to work Thursday night, so Charlie picked me up at my house friday morning. I finally was able to take a nap just before we got to Seguin. I woke up on the other side of Hondo! That was a good nap! When we arrived at camp, we unloaded the truck, changed clothes and headed to the "hole", a pit blind at the front of the ranch. We saw a real nice 8pt, several does, but nothin wanted to die. Nothin would stand still long enough to take a shot.

Saturday morning found us at Chews favorite blind! We havent been in the blind 2 or three minutes, Charlie was still hooking up all his camera gadgets and the trail cam flashed. Javis!! Too dark to shoot, so we waited for the feeder to go off. Charlie had told me there ws a bobbed tail buck that he wanted shot. He WAS an ol grumpy cull that would always run the deer out of the feeder pin. That was victim #1.

That evening, we went to the Vega stand to try our chances at another cull. After Charlie got the camera set up, I went to playin my Game Boy. We hadnt sat there 20 minutes and the deer started to show up. Then all of the sudden, Charlie says, "Shooter, shooter!! Get your bow!!" My favorite 5 words! I grabbed my trusty Black Ice and drew back on a big 5 pt cull. Quartering away, I made a perfect shot that sent the buck running, But, it's hard to run when you cant breathe! Watched him fall.

The next morning, we were back at Chews spot. Several does came out, then the turkeys flew down. Two big gobblers flew in. The younger smaller bird had a longer beard, but I wanted the older, dominate bird. Smoked him!! 15 yards, the tom died in the feeder pin. Not 15 minutes later, a big ol flop earred doe came to the feeder. I was not her lucky day. Kill #4!! She ran maybe 60 yards. 4 kills and all died on film. Watched everyone of them fall. What a great feeling. I hate that we didnt get to let Sandy the Wonder Dawg get some trackin practice, but it sure was a good feelin to walk right to the animal and not even worry about a blood trail!

Even stopped at a spot the Border Patrol calls Smugglers Draw

Bobby,

I love your favorite stand!! I just wish we would have stayed longer just to go look around and see the rest of the ranch. Really neat place.
