Mike, I have a few items for the raffle that I am donating and will see if I can get others in the area to give also. Now I just need to reserve our room for the banquet.

Thanks a bunch!!!! And thank you as well to your lovely bride for helping out! I think Kim and her are meeting for lunch or something to go over some of the raffle/banquet stuff. We had the In-Laws over when they were talking and I had to entertain

ALLRIGHT! Back on-line!

Lost 2 seperate hard drives in the last week and a half alone to a boot sector virus. Have NO clue how the drives got nuked either as I run 2 firewalls, brand new up to-date antivrus and also sweep my system daily with lavasofts ad-aware. Especially weird about the second one as it was a brand new HD and it happened while in the process of re-loading all my regular name brand software on it I had on the first HD (kodak, roxio, etc..and can't imagine it came in from name brand commercial software on CD, not burned copies). Lost a 160gig in the first, then a 80gig in the second. First one is gone (going to try some specialty software to try and recover data) the second one I was able to just reformat.

Nothing real major lost, just some recent photos and all my recent emails. Thankfully I back the system up, though not as regularly as I will now.

If you have any particular info on items or hunts, email is up as of this morning and you can go ahead and send it to me. Thanks everyone for helping to make the banquet a success.

PS...would someone on the EC forward me an email that has all the EC's email addies in it. I need to get my address book put back together. Bobster...I got your and Dena's recent emails this morning from over the weekend it looks like and will respond today once I get this HD tweaked and reloaded

email on the way.

Perhaps you should stop shopping for used hard drives at the Hackers Office Supply Warehouse? Or, no don't tell me, you're not still going to the "Viruses R Us" store for equipment?

I'm with you Chunky...I tried to book the room today and was also told they were booked up. I knew since last year I was going to the banquet in Corpus, so I guess I don't have a good excuse for waiting so long to book

I think someone, Bowjunkie?, posted a back up motel for the conference. I cannot remember it or the location where I saw it. Might contact Mike and see if he was the one who posted the info.

Dang Mike, you have more trouble with viruses than anyone I've ever seen. Sorry to hear of your misfortune bud. If you're not using Norton Antivirus, I recommend it. I don't recommend McAfee. May be a good virus program, but it didn't serve me too well. Since I switched over to Norton, it's been smooth sailing. Unless they've changed, Norton (Symantec) is what the Air Force used when I was in.

Enjoy the banquet all.

Chunky....I have reserved rooms for the Hall of Fame recipients, but one of them may not be attending. Let me double check on that today and I will give you the confirmation number for the room (its a double) to change the name on it and you can have it.

Here is the web site for the Best Western which is just down the street from the Ramada. Dee Dee, our contact at the Ramada said she spoke with John over there and worked a reciprocal agreement for us on over flow. http://book.bestwestern.com/bestwest...ctInfo.do#null you will need to mention that "Dee Dee at the Ramada referred you due to our block being booked".

Here is the Orbitz site also for additional resources:
http://www.orbitz.com/App/ViewHotelSearchResults?OSC=Dz1unTukpj!210261702!18 3215681!7001!-1&&retrieveParams=true&z=3198&r=2

It's a double edged sword thing with the rooms.....on one hand its an inconvienance to have to travel over to another hotel to attend the banquet, but its also good we have the block taken up and that bodes well for attendance.

Yeah...on the virus thing...I nipped one of the problems in the bud and that was the teenage daughter. She has since lost all internet access except for homework and that is supervised. The boot sector virus was narrowed down yesterday to a floppy disc I had that I stored MS Word files on. Each time I lost the hard drive and reformatted it, I would then reload the virus when adding back the Word Documents.....talk about a vicous circle. And this was after I had scanned this floppy with Norton 2005 a while back

Losthawg...I've got the latest version of PC-Cillin loaded, two firewalls (one at the router and the other from the software), and run Lavasofts Ad-Aware daily as well. I just switched over to PC-Cillin from Norton 2005 as the Symantec products are a resource hog and the new stuff I have is rated higher and catches more stuff. Plus it is more user friendly for me, is 3 times faster when running a full system scan and uses half the running resources of Symantec. I liked and used Norton for many years (since version 2000), but they are now about in the middle of the pack compared to a lot of the others out there. Competition is a good thing 8)

GRRRRRRRRRR :x :x :x

After two more calls and another 15 minutes on hold....the best western says that Ramada approched them about being the overflow hotel, but that no agreement was made.

They do have rooms at this time at eighty something a night. I did not book yet.

Great news!

You can get a room at the Omni with chocolate covered strawberries, turn down service and breakfast for $140.

Somehow I don't see our group as the... someone to turn down your bed... type. Seems a little soft for us hard core bowhunters.

Think I will just forkover the 85 at Best Western...beside a two star rating is still probably a lot better than most deer camps.

Good deal Mike, hope it works out for you this time. These sorry hackers and virus creators need to get a life.
