Thanks for posting this Roger, and Txhunter for adding it to the Homepage. I have a friend that is going to enter and was hoping that we extended the deadline. Bob

Thanks for the bump! I hadn't heard about this.

I assume the youth contestant needs to be a memeber and not just a parent?

I'm an LSBA member but my 13 yr old son is not. Can I convert my membership to a family membership midstream?

Help, Dena!

I don't see anything in the rules that the entry has to be a member, just sponsored by one.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong!

I wish I knew Tracy! That picture was given to me by Joey when he started the contest. I have no idea where it came from.

right-wing, I wish I could answer your question about the child needing to be a member, but I cannot. I can answer your second question though. Yes you can convert your individual membership to a family membership. Just get up with Dena and let her know, she will be more than happy to help you out. I hope that someone else will answer your first question. Bob

Ok....

According to the rules Joey laid out in the Fall 07 issue:

"Each young hunter will need an LSBA member to sponsor them and submit their "package". Along with their essay, the sponsor should include a short letter about the youth. Cover the basics about their bowhunting experience, bowhunter education and any pictures from their successful ourtings. The letter should also include a short paragraph detailing the sponsors bowhunting experience."

Thanks for posting the rules, Roger!

Wes, as we discussed, you can up grade to the family membership. Luke will have to be a member to qualify for the First Point Youth Hunt, but apparently does not have to be to enter the Ed Foreman Youth Essay Contest. Luke has been a very busy young man lately and it looks like he is going to be writing another essay! Way to go, Luke!!! Good job, Wes!!!
