I'd recommend getting a serviceable used recurve of low draw weight to get the feel with. Don't invest a lot so that when you start setting up to hunt, you won't be out much in the upgrade.

Go careful on the draw weight. If you're form isn't within the right parameters, you can hurt yourself.
