This is a great opportunity for kids 16 and younger to have a wonderful experience bowhunting for Texas’ most coveted trophies. The bag limit for each hunter is an 8 point buck, a bearded turkey, one javelina, unlimited hogs and other varmints. All Texas Parks & Wildlife Rules and Regulations apply.

There are 9 spots available for this hunt. The hunt is FREE of charge and includes lodging. Child and parent must be a current member of the LSBA throughout the entire entry process and at the time of the hunt. Hunters for the 9 spots will be selected through a drawing. There are five (5) different ways that a child can earn a ticket for the drawing. There can be up to five (5) tickets per person.

Tickets can be earned by the following:

1. Complete the Hunters Education Course

2. Complete the International Bowhunter Education Program Course
(A child must be 9 to be certified by the Hunters Ed and 12 through the IBEP course, however, the requirement for the hunt is that the course be completed.)

For course schedules:

3. Write a 500 word essay on the topic “How I can preserve and promote bowhunting”

4. Video Essay (Shooting Proficiency, etc.)

5. Win any 3-D Tournament

Deadline: All entries including hunter’s name, parents’ name, address, phone number and email address, along with supporting documentation must be RECEIVED at the following address by May 21, 2011. Winners will be announced at the LSBA’s 2011 Outdoor Expo and Banquet at Pedrotti’s Ranch, Helotes, Texas, on June 11, 2011. It would be appreciated if entrants be in attendance at the Banquet, but is not a requirement.

I could be wrong, but I thought that in the past it was, "complete the bowhunter education course." Was I mistaken?

I need clarification on the age limit of 16. Age of 16 as of when? my son is 16 now and will still be 16 at the deadline but will be 17 at the time of the hunt.
