Yah....he says he has patience. He will be tested. :hammerhead:
(got a text reply from Derek....he didn't say anything about skinning a deer or LDPs. I bet he's enjoying this great weather, though!)

Thanks everyone!!!!

I had a great birthday, but someone forgot to tell the deer to come to the party. Actually my wife and our neighbors up in East TX showed up and gave me a pretty good party around the campfire.

As for the whole week of hunting, here is a video that tells the whole story......

P.S. Ray was starting to group with the his recurve. Still has a lot of practice ahead but he can be ready to hunt traditional next year, I'm sure of it.

Good video Derek!

Thanks for the help and advice with my recurve. I did feel more comfortable as time went on....maybe I'll be ready by next deer season or even a late season LSBA hunt, if we have one.

Way to go achieving your 50th....you'll catch up with me in a couple of years!

Had a great time out there. Now I know what they mean by the "Big Thicket". Wow. I was sitting in my blind one of the days marveling at the growth around me. Not something this old West Texan has seen much of....lol. I had the thought "How did Cabeza de Vaca, Coronado, and the other early explorers in this area make it through stuff like that....no trails, no roads, no fire lanes. Amazing.

I cannot get the video to work, sounds like you had a lot of fun. Bob

bountyhunter 10-11-2010 09:52 PM

Try it now Bob, it should work.

Naw you were grouping, you just weren't consistant as yet, three of them went right where you wanted them to go. Lets just say the other two were hardheaded....:D
