The Perfect Bowhunt

My son Luke was fortunate enough to win the Ed Forman youth essay hunt this past month. The Bar E offered a free hunt and he wasted no time taking advantage of it.

We had an excellent time and the Zimmermans were great hosts and treated us like long time friends. We saw a lot of exotics and some really nice Whitetail bucks as well. Luke was focusing on an Axis and we saw a really nice one while on stand, but it stayed just out of bow range. There was seldom a time while we were not seeing some kind of animals.

Luke learned a valuable lesson his last day on this trip. When you put a second arrow in an animal for insurance... make dang sure it is the same animal!! Bowhunting is a great sport but it can also teach lessons in patience and composure while under pressure.

We want to say thanks again to the Bar E and LSBA!
