Observation

I probably don't come to this site as much as I should, but there is just nothing hardly being posted on this site. I see there are a lot of people here that are on Texasbowhunter.com

Is there some sort of arrangement where maybe LSBA might could get their own forum/section on TBH? It might get a lot more hits, as well as maybe more members joining LSBA.

Just a thought.....

bowmech 03-06-2011 09:04 PM

How long does the LSBA website exist?
I think the one thing that is different is TBH created somewhat of a cult with the stickersightings, the greeting on stickersightings etc.
This will get a lot of people interrested and more active.

I posted this at 6pm today, it is almost 10pm tonight, and there have only been 11 people that looked at this, with me being number 1.

At least i was #2 responding.... not much, but at least someone was reading your post........ there is a way to fix this.

bowmech 03-07-2011 12:46 AM

bowmech 03-07-2011 12:48 AM

Probably much older then tbh, and a lot more conservative...........just a guess, please respond guys, what is your birth year?

If you'll go back over the 7 pages of threads and replies (they just go back to last November) you'll see many informative threads, a lot of healthy banter, and some really good folks enjoying a good website. True, your post won't be buried on page three in a half a day, but it will be visible for most to enjoy.

I'm a frequenter of both TBH and LSBA forums. They are both dedicated to promoting our sport and some very fine people provide and maintain the sites. Both have many good people using them and you can't help but better yourself by frequenting either one. But they ain't the same.

Good to hear your opinion. You ought to get to know everyone here....really fine folks. Welcome!

I sneak a look here from work (ssshhh) about once a day...maybe. I have too much going on personally to spend a lot of time on forums. I do find the information here is much more to the point without all the "chit chat".

Welcome

The LSBA website has been around a long time (1996), and has tried to keep the contents focused on BOWHUNTING related information. I noticed recently that we are reviewing beer. If this was my interest, I think I would seek out a website pertaining to that subject.
I am old and with 51 years of bowhunting experience, 35 years with the LSBA (Still the only major bowhunting organization in Texas), I may be out of touch with the modern bowhunters, but when I go to the "Bowhunting " forums, I expect to find info pertaining to that subject.
I agree with rtread, I am sure there are good folks that use this media source, but the forums ain't the same.

I visit both websites and feel each have two different roles. Agree LSBA's website does not get the traffic.

Ron,
Man cannot just eat venison, turkey and other wild game without sharing a few recipes and beverages to wash down the camaraderie that the outdoors brings to us at home and on our LSBA campfire.:jump:

The LSBA has been in existence since 1974 and the website since approximately 1996. I am member of both the LSBA and TBH forums and post regularly on both.

I enjoy the informative posts on the LSBA site and am glad that we do not have to deal with a lot of the other things that the Moderators on TBH have to police. They do an awesome job, but it is also very time consuming and frustrating at times. I believe both TBH and the LSBA offer invaluable services to the bowhunting and archery communities of Texas. As the State bowhunting organization, the LSBA has to focus on the business/political side of bowhunting as well, such as rules and regulation changes, etc.

The LSBA has many members who are also members of TBH and into social networking, etc., but we also have a lot of "old-school" members as well. There are about 150 members who do not have email addresses and who still do business by regular mail. They get their news from our magazine and not the website. In fact, I received a story for the magazine last month via US mail, which was hand-written. Some of our members would rather spend time in the field with their bow only, no phone, no camera. The LSBA is glad to be a sponsor of TBH and will hopefully reach more bowhunters.

There are things which can be discussed other than bowhunting and archery on the LSBA's forum. I like the beer reviews which have recently appeared on here. In fact, I used them to choose a beer in which I marinated my red fish on the half shell from our Louisiana bowfishing trip. Thanks, Mr. Miller! I enjoy the recipe section as well.

Many of the LSBA EC members also serve as Moderators for the site. If we are conducting a LSBA event, hosting a hunt, etc.; it is hard to monitor the site at the same time. I would like to see our forum to get more traffic. However, the LSBA's primary mission is to preserve and promote bowhunting in Texas and we do so through hands on training in the field, by monitoring possible rules and regulations changes, through 3-D events, hunts, etc. The forum is a tool to assist us in promoting and preserving bowhunting, not our primary focus.

Keep on posting!! I am glad to see so many that support both LSBA and TBH!

We have a great site, and hope it gets better, but never want it like TBH. Both sites have there role. Welcome aboard and keep coming back. Bob

Thanks so much.... I was worried the beer reviews might ruffle some feathers.... but as long as they are enjoyed I'll keep a couple going each week!

Please don't get me wrong, i like this site almost better then TBH. Just a lot more quiet and easy going.
Just seems like a much more mature crowd in here which i'm glad to be part of.
