Bowhunting 101: (two sessions, 5 hours total, cost $50)

Dates:

Session 1 is Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 7:00 – 9:00pm at TXAA in Plano

Session 2 is Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 9:00am – 12:00pm at Texans Range @ Elm Fork

A seminar for the beginning or moderately experienced Bowhunter. Emphasis is on preparing you to make your shot count, and giving you confidence in your equipment and technique. Includes review and testing of your equipment, hunting methods & techniques, safe use of treestands & blinds, and practical tips for shooting and recovering your game animal!

• Session 1 (2 hours) is held indoors – topics including Getting to Know Your Gear; Equipment Inspection, Evaluation, and Testing; and Practical Shooting – Form and Technique.


Learn about your gear - how to inspect it, how to test & document its performance, specs and settings, and most of all, learn how to improve your shooting skills so that you will be ready to make that shot in the field!

• Session 2 (3 hours) is held outdoors – topics include Blinds & Stands for Bowhunting; Treestand Safety; Shooting & Testing Broadheads; Shooting Big Game Animals – Strategies for Getting the Shot and Making it Count; and Game Recovery – What to Do After the Shot.


Learn how to hunt safely and effectively from various types of stands and blinds, including treestands and popup blinds. Test your bow’s performance shooting broadheads, learn how to choose a broadhead, and sample different models/styles of broadheads. Learn strategies and techniques for making effective, ethical shots on big game animals, and learn what to do after the shot to recover your animal.


Bowhunting in Texas – Where to Go? (1 hour seminar, cost $10)

Date: September 11, 2012 from 7:00 – 8:00pm at TXAA in Plano

An overview of opportunities for bowhunting in Texas, including public land, private land, and local day-hunt outfitters. Don’t have your own land or a lease? Learn about places you can hunt at minimal expense in Texas. Out-of-state opportunities can also be discussed if desired.


Treestand Safety (1.5 hour seminar, cost $15)

Date: September 15, 2012 from 9:00 – 10:30am at Texans Range @ Elm Fork

A detailed, hands-on seminar on hunting safely from treestands and ladderstands. Learn the types of stands, how to set them up safely, and how to use the various Fall-Arrest Systems and other safety gear available. Vital information that could save your life! As the National Bowhunter Education Foundation says, “It’s time to take treestand safety personally, because IT IS personal!”
