Meet me a the Lincoln?

I haven't hunted much this season. I've only been one day since going to Nebraska with my son and two crazy guys from Cumby, TX. I won't mention the latter guys names, but shucks you know how much inbreeding there is in East Texas, so it's no secret that their last name has to be Strickland. Anyway, I'm currently suffering a severe form of what the Psychologists call DHWS or as it's more formally know Deer Hunting Withdrawal Syndrome. The only cure is to go hunting, so I've bitten the bullet/broadhead and signed up for four days at the Lincoln Ranch.

My son and best hunting buddy can't go, so I'm solo on this one unless some other LSBA member is suffering a disorder similar to mine and would like to join me. I'll be there Jan 4th through the 8th. Chrismas will be over and the bucks should be coming to the corn. This ranch is on the Callahan cut off about 30 miles north of Laredo and they do have some good deer. Since it's also on an MLD plan YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE ANY TAGS LEFT to go on this hunt.

So anyone got the time and money to go on any or all of these days? I've hunted the ranch before and could be induced to put you in one of my favorite spots. Actually Crown has been know to make me reveal a lot of secrets. So want to meet me at the Lincoln for a late season hunt?

I will be there January 6-10 with another LSBA member if you would like to join us?

Cool Tradpole, we'll overlap. I have your handle, but what's the name to look for with that?

Sorting gear and packing up. Ready to head out early Tuesday. Really only my second deer bowhunting trip of the Fall season. I need Meat! I won't pass up a big buck, but the first dainty doe that steps out will probably get whacked.

Tomme, you should be back by now.. Lets here the story..

Tomme 01-22-2011 06:29 PM

Sorry Mike. Didn't see this till today. Been busy back teaching.

Had a great time, but no venison. I fell in with three rednecks from Beaumont. Since I speak pretty good redneck, we fit right in.

They killed a cull nine point and a doe. I was going to whack the first big doe that came out, but while I saw a couple of doe and two spikes they weren't that big.

Highlight was coming out one night I saw the three of them circling through the woods and cactus looking for a deer. Story was "Hit it right behind the shoulder, but wasn't a pass through." Of course I had to help track. After three hours stumbling around through the thorns and thorn bushes not a speck of blood. Reason was apparent when the buck walked past his stand the next morning and he actually hit him that time.

I'm probably going back to the Lincoln next year.
