2014 LSBA Nominations

The date for nomination forms has passed with only 2 forms being turned in. From what I have heard, there were some good names put on the forms.

I would like to take this time to let you know that my name will appear on the Vice President spot and would appreciate your vote. I have been a member of the LSBA for over 2 decades now, and been active within the LSBA now for at least 7 years with being the Region 77 Rep for 4 of those years.

Whenever the election ballots come out, I hope that everyone takes the time out to fill out the ballot and send it in with your choice to help lead the EC. You will be allowed to vote on each position even in each Region for the Reps. If there is not anyone running for a position, then I encourage you to write a candidate in the spot that you think would be a good choice and wants to be part of the EC.

The LSBA EC really needs some good individuals to help continue Preserving and Promoting Bowhunting in Texas.

Thank You,
Bob Kana

Good deal Bobby

MILNRICK 01-16-2014 08:32 AM

Does anyone know when the ballots will be mailed out?

Atfulldraw 01-16-2014 10:36 PM

I'm interested in a rep spot this year, but didn't see the ballot this time around.

And you have my vote :)

Thanks for all your work with the LSBA over the years.

rgb 01-16-2014 11:56 PM

We are working on the details of the election.....We did have a nomination form in the most recent magazine; however, we literally only received two forms returned to us. And they did not cover all the spots that are open.

In order to do the election as soon as possible, the plan is we will do a special mailout to LSBA members, containing a cover letter and an election ballot. We will strongly encourage write-in votes, especially to cover open positions for which no nominations were received. There are also a couple of rep positions open due to resignations, and someone will need to be appointed to serve out the remainder of these terms (=2014). Therefore the ballot will also provide a space for members to indicate they wish to be considered for appointment to these positions.

The official letter and ballot will be sent to members via US Mail. We will also email the same info to all members for whom we have an email address on file. The purpose of the email is to reinforce/remind about the election process, and hopefully help us obtain more responses. I'll post a copy of the info here on the LSBA website too. Members will be asked to return the ballots via US Mail or by scanning and emailing them to us.

All who wish to run for office, whether they are on the ballot already or are conducting a write-in effort, will be encouraged to "campaign" in a thread here on LSBA forum.

So that's the basic plan. I am working on the logistics of doing the mailout, so we can determine what the exact timing of everything will be. We hope to get the ballots out in a few days, and complete the election by mid-February.

Stay tuned for more details.......and if you would like to help run LSBA please consider running for office!

Bob Barnette
President, LSBA

Rod, Thanks for stepping up to help lead the Association. Which Region are you now living in. The Regions go by the first two digits of your zip code. Like Bob Barnette mentioned, there are several open spots on this years ballot.

Also, thank you for your vote,

Bob Kana
TBBR Chairman

Ronny 01-18-2014 07:22 AM

I think I'll run as a write-in for 75.
You got my vote Bobby
And I'll write Rod in also

78

We are just outside of Marble Falls.

I'm thinking an email to members might get a better (and faster) response.
I check my mail at the post office at least once a month whether it needs it or not! :)

Thanks Ronny!

Ronny Strickland for 75 (Write In)
Rob Buvens for 78 (Write In)

Is there a list of EC members? How many positions are there in each region? I'd like to help out as much as I can but I wouldn't even attempt to run against someone that has held a position for several years unless I thought I could do a better job.

My name is Dena Kana and I am running for LSBA President. I would truly appreciate your vote. Hunting and bowhunting are a lifestyle for my family. I eat, sleep and breathe bowhunting and the LSBA is extremely important to me. I hold and value the LSBA and the members near and dear to my heart. I was unable to devote as much time to the LSBA in the last couple of years because I changed jobs and my son graduated from high school. I now have the time to devote to the LSBA again. I have served as Membership Chairperson since 2006 and served in that position for six years. I have also served as Banquet Chairperson or Co-Chairperson for five years, Treasurer for three years, President for two years and Past-President for one year. I was also an active IBEP Instructor for several years and have held Pro-Staff positions for Bass Pro Shop, Sticks N Limbs Camo, Carson Optical, Bullseye Archery, Parker Bows and Gold Tip Arrows. I have been awarded the LSBA Meritorious and inducted in to the Bowhunting Hall of Fame.

It would be an honor to serve the LSBA members again as President. I would appreciate your vote. If you have any questions, suggestions or complaints, please feel free to contact me at 409 739-2630 or denakana@gmail.com.

Even if positions are running unopposed, please exercise your right as a LSBA member to vote and let your voice be heard!!

Just to clarify, This is the 2013 EC not the names on the ballot. Many of these positions are open now. When Bob Barnette post up the official ballot, it will show the open spots.

That's all you can come up with? :D
Wish my curriculum vitae was half as impressive as yours.

My time has been freed up quite a bit since Sandy passed away. I'd be willing to help however I can. I'm in 77

:D:D:D I've enjoyed every minute of it and have been blessed to help others participate in something that I enjoy so much.

You will be an asset to the LSBA, Ed. We have a couple of events coming up in Region 77. LSBA Fun Day will be at BPS in Pearland on February 8th and Migration Celebration April 12-13 in Churchill. We need to have a get together soon...maybe at Bone Daddy's!! Glad to have you aboard, Ed!!!

I saw something on the LSBA fun day. I don't think it showed the time. I have a 7:30 am meeting that morning but I'm available the rest of the day. Migration Celebration is the same weekend as an LSBA event and Rod has already changed the date of that event for me once. :)

I think I made a couple of friends the last time at Bone Daddy's. Either that or they were feeling sorry for me since the rest of the party was late. I didn't realize until the next day that you had called and left me a voicemail on my office phone. Another get together would be good.

Hot4huntin 01-28-2014 10:43 AM

:p:p:p You should pick more timely friends!!! :D:D:D

Hello everyone. I still do not have time just yet to serve on the EC again but do plan on attending the banquet and seeing everyone again. Dena, Bobby and Ronny are great for the organization and have my vote. Hopefully one day soon I can rejoin the EC if there is a need.
Thanks Dean

Dean, it is be good to serve again on a EC with you and Ronny one day. With the new changes for teleconference meetings, it sure makes it nice for those that always traveled across the state to attend the meetings. You and Ronny always found time to travel to wherever in the state to attend all the meetings.

Thanks Dean, hope to have you back on someday soon.

Region 79

Mickey Estep, a long-time member from Odessa will be a write in candidate for region 79. He's Odessa's 4H Archery Coach and and has always been willing to help out and spread the word about the LSBA anytime he's not busy with his students.

Thanks for your long time support of the LSBA, Dean!! You have been a HUGE help at the Banquets and I commend you for making the EC meetings for many years from way out in BFE!!! :D I would be proud to serve on the EC with you again!!

Glad you are going to run again, Ronny!!! You and Dean were a big reason that I got involved in the LSBA and it will be an honor to serve on the EC with you again. I also commend you for making it to the Banquets even in adverse conditions, such as playing on counters and not making it down safely. :D:D:D You are another that has driven many, many miles to attend EC meetings, I appreciate that!!! The teleconference will make it much easier.

Glad to hear Mickey is willing to run for Rep 79!! I know he has been along time support of the LSBA!!

rgb 01-31-2014 08:22 AM

Everybody should have received your ballot in the mail by now......If you are interested in running for any of the offices or Regional Rep positions, but were not nominated, remember you can conduct a write-in campaign and promote your candidacy on "2014 LSBA Election Information" thread. Folks who have announced write-in campaigns thus far are:

Region 75 Rep Ronny Strickland
Region 78 Rep Rod Buvens
Region 79 Rep Mickey Estep

Also, we need to appoint Regional Reps for 75 and 76 to fill-out the remainder of two terms.......if you would like to be considered for appointment you can indicate that on the ballot too.

So if you would like to help LSBA with what we do and how we do it, please step and serve on the EC!

Pistol 01-31-2014 09:03 PM

Is it too late to try for Regions? If not I live in the 76 Region, Fort Worth to be exact. I'm new to the LSBA, however I'd still like to offer my services in any way possible to help the bowhunting community.
