One exotic you could hunt as much as deer?

Killing WT deer never gets old to me. The one exotic species that I compare to that is fallow deer. I could put several on the wall and not think twice.

I like them all, but looking at my wall, the animals that I have more multi species of are hogs, guess I needed one of each color phase. Sheep, one of each species, and of course whitetail deer.

Hogs are one thing, I would like to hunt more of. I've killed dozens with a rifle, mainly back in college down on the trinity river bottom and moms place but have only killed two with a bow, plus one Javelina. I would really like to find a place to bow hunt them. We are very blessed to not have them on our ranch yet.

Interestingly enough, I've always debated in my mind what criteria needs to be met before I will shoulder mount a hog...I've always thought my limit would be 200lbs field dressed. Have not come close with a bow yet.

Rams, are good as well. I started killing those at Thompson Temples, back in college. It was a place a bunch of broke college kids could muster up the cash to go. The avatar pic of mine is one of those.

That's a nice ram in your avatar. I have my slam, but some are not as big as I would have liked. I started out early in life hunting them, and now really don't anymore. The one that I haven't gotten yet is a painted ram. Waiting on the right one to come along.

Thanks, the ram in my avatar is really not that big, he's bronze medal class, but just made a beautiful mount.

I've mounted two of these Rams, that I sometimes wish that I didn't just for wall space and I really only prefer to invest the money in a shoulder mount if it's big enough that It will go gold.

My first bow kill was a black Hawaiian ram, who also went bronze...very sentimental, but not a good scoring representative.

I worked several jobs in college and had hunting money to burn and mounted several Rams and deer that I wish I would have made skull mounts. But oh well, there are worse problems in life.

My goal now, is a gold medal slam with the recurve.

Here's a pic of my painted ram, bow kill...half inch from gold but I'm happy with him and satisfied if I don't kill another painted ram.

I am with you on mounting things that I wish I would have waited on. My black Hawaiian is small, but did not cost me a lot.

That's a great looking paint there.

Funny thing about the painted rams, I was at Thompson Temples a few years back and he had a high Silver/low Gold medal painted ram. He told me where he was seeing him. I saw the ram and passed because I already had that ram I posted a pic of. I'm kicking myself still today because it was beautiful ram, and having another one wouldn't have been that bad of a thing! Especially at the price of the hunt...

I hunted with Thompson years ago. Always enjoyed it. I really need to get back over there again some day. Never know what I might kill then

It's a great weekend. I'd like to go back sometime. May need a bow only group get together.
