 Nebraska May Not Recover

OK, it's the annual Nebraska hunt headed by Ronny Strickland. This year there will not only be two Strickland brothers on this hunt, Ronny and Jeff, but also two Actkinsons as Jon (my son) will be coming on this hunt. Nebraska will never be the same.

Man I wish I was going with ya'll. Just remember, Ronny will not help you drag the deer out of the bottom of the canyon!! :spank:
	 |

I am so ready to head north:jump:. I checked the weather and it looks pretty good for the hunt:D. Small chance of rain 2 days with the temp being low 40 to low 70's.:D
	Don't tell Tomme but I sold his (junk) I mean stands.rofl |

I heaard that. Guess I'll just have to hunt Michael's tree. By the way, a good Christmas present for EXIT 110, might be a rope sufficient to raise a bow into a tree that a 170 class deer is about to pass.
By the way this is not Actkinson's against the Strickland's, it's both of us against the deer. Though seems like there is a steak dinner still owed to Team Nebraska from a previous hunt. Biggen, you will be missed. Despite your moodiness, bad temper, grouchiness and PMS you still add up on the plus side and I'll always be proud to hunt with you. Start recycling your pop cans for next year's hunt. |

Try not to tear up any trucks Tomme! You guys have a good hunt and be safe.

Hey, this is a family site. Besides serves you right for trying to get int he shower with me.
As for you Jack. Truck, what truck? I know nothing. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it, at least till the next issue of the magazine. |

Sounds like another fun trip ahead. Cannot wait on the stories and pics. Good luck to everyone. Bob

He has Messed up more trucks than I care to remember:spank:.
Brad you will be missed (not ):p If nothing else we will have lots of FUN. Just watching Tomme try to put on his rubber boots on is fun.:p:p:D |

Tomme, don't forget to sing to them...at least once. Hope yall have FUN. Sounds like a great trip.
	 |

Good idea on the singing. I'll go in and sing him a lullaby, like my version of "I'm Looking for Something to Kill". That'll keep him up all night and pay back that truck crack.

Despite the wise cracks about the rope (Tomme) I still wish I were going to be in that truck Sat. Morning. It is killing me, and as much as you and Ronny try in front of others, you cannot deny that you are going to miss Brad, and I.
On the straight up side of things. I truly love hunting with that group even Brad, almost as much as I love hunting those giants up in Nebraska. So honestly best of luck guys.. Keep us posted. And Tomme, Ronny, you can bet your keester's I will be back next year so don't get too used to hunting my spots, and try not to screw them up...... |

Good luck guys. Hope the weather cooperates with you this year. Lay the smack down on some of those Nebraska bucks.

 Well what's the final word!!

Okay, I'm finally back. Flying standby can be a real "trip" and when I tell Ronny that it took me two days to get to Corpus and finally made it here about 9:30 tonight, he'll be laughing his *** off. I was the 51st flier on the last flight out from Omaha Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately those small jets only hold 50 so I got bumped (darn). Sunday was so full I wasn't even sure I'd get out at all, but after being bumped on four flights, I finally got the last available seat on the fifth and next to last flight.
OK, final report. Deer won this one hands down. Part of it might have been the full moon, but more than anything I think it was the warm weather. They had cut most of the corn this year, which was good, but with lows around 40 and highs in the 70s, the bucks didn't seem to move as much. We all saw deer including one shooter with over a 20 inch wide spread (seen by Ronny and he also saw another that good or better); a 150class by Jeff Strickland and Jonathan Actkinson, and I saw an 8 pt that might have booked and that I would have taken a shot at, but it didn't come into range. I also had a 10 pt come under my stand, but he wasn't what I'd gone up there to shoot (maybe next year). Ronny also had the high count with 37 doe and one spike seen one evening on the alfalfa field. I could have taken several doe, including one that was huge, but didn't really need the meat this year, and I was drawn and centered on two turkey gobblers at 12 yards from inside the blockhouse stand on the powerline (that's for Brad and Michael). Yessirree, drawn and centered on those suckers, kind of makes you wish you'd bought a turkey tag... So basically we struck out, but great hunting with my son and Ronny and Jeff Strickland. Already thinking ahead to next years hunt. Michael and Brad, you both were missed, but it was quieter without Brad and only we silent types along. Can't wait till 2011. |

A good hunt with friends and family doesn't always have to end in a kill. Glad you had a good time and I sure hope you get a shot on your next outing.

Just watching Tomme TRY to put his rubber boots on is fun. And watching him TRY to climb the trees I hung stands in is funny.
