After the storm

Not sure how many have read TBH but I talked to Dena. Bobby & Dena are both ok. How did everyone else fair?

biggen 09-13-2008 01:11 PM

Family in Angleton are fine just no electricity!! Family staying with me that live in Freeport don't know anything yet. Also family owns two beach houses in Surfside that do not know anything yet! Got a call into Tomme to see how his house faired!

Ronny 09-13-2008 01:15 PM

I talked to Tomme yesterday and he was staying in SA so he might not know yet. Hope everyone made it ok

bustedassranch 09-13-2008 01:15 PM

I have food, water, ice, & gas loaded & ready to go when we get the ok. I plan on leaving Monday.

BUFF 09-13-2008 02:29 PM

good luck to everybody

BearOmni 09-15-2008 04:58 AM

Heard last night that power is back on in Santa Fe. At least around my in-laws house.
Hope everyone gets back on track soon.

biggen 09-15-2008 09:39 AM

My cousins house in Freeport is ok! Got power and water!! Tomme is back in Rockport but have not heard from him yet but he was getting reports everything is A ok.

Chunky 09-15-2008 07:36 PM

Tons of damage in my area. Moderate roof damage and lots of my trees down...but it could have been much worse.

no power, water, phone, at this time...and not expected anytime soon.

Just like on Gilligans Island,

No phone, no lights, no motor cars,
Not a single luxury,
Like Robinson Carousoe it's primitive as can be.

I have put my targets back out and can shoot my bow, so there's that.

NDNRoger 09-15-2008 08:19 PM

Mark,

PM sent. If you can't call at least email me as you seem to have access to a PC. We need to chat about next week!

Chunky 09-15-2008 08:27 PM

Roger,

I got the message. I have limited PC access at work. We have massive generators here. I will try and call you. Right now, my elk trip is in danger. I don't know that I could fly off to go hunting and leave the family home in the dark with no power or services.

Mark

NDNRoger 09-15-2008 08:37 PM

I completely understand. No worries. If you do make it, make sure to call me so I can pick you up. Take care of your family!

Chunky 09-15-2008 10:12 PM

Thanks Roger,

When I made the plans, Kevin indicated that he would be able to pick me up at the air port. I get in mid-morning....around 10:30 or something like that. If it would work better for the whole operation for me to ride with you....that is fine with me as well. I doubt I will be able to do the coordination. I can check here and TBH everyday from work, and maybe things will get better sooner than they are telling us.

Right now I can only keep shooting and hope for the best. It would be hard to pack by flashlight, and can't wash anything of course.

BrandonH 09-15-2008 11:19 PM

I'm posting from my cell...minor roof damage, downed fence, and still no power. Luckily I have a generator to run once in a while to keep my 3 freezers going.

We have no power running on generators. River Plantation looks like a war zone trees down everywhere.

Positive thoughts! Having you ride out from here works for me too. If you get here early enough you could do your wash here. up to you. Keep in touch any way you can.

biggen 09-17-2008 09:39 AM

Glad your ok but that suxs about the house and garage!!

Target-panic 09-17-2008 10:27 AM

No damage, other than a sore back from picking up limbs. Power was restored Monday night and I am back at work today. Volunteering to distribute supplies donated by Dow to the community. So relief for the sore back, but not all bad.

Bullrdr82 09-17-2008 10:53 AM

All is well on my end....

Got power back and I am back at work today.

If anyone in the NW side needs anything, let me know. I will do whatever I can.

Chunky 09-17-2008 01:18 PM

I sure am sorry to see those pics of your house and garage.

I was the last one to get power after Rita, so I believe I am still a long way from power yet. Last night driving home from the airport, it was complete darkness north of Porter. It was creepy dark. It if were not for the sounds of generators and chainsaws, you could believe you were the last person on earth.

Someone asked me at work if my neighborhood had power....I told him no, but much of my neighborhood didn't have power before the storm! :)

Roger, if I make the trip...I will definitely use my airline ticket. It gives me more time to try and recover and get home, plus it is already paid for. Thanks so much for your kind offer of a ride, and washing, at your place. I still hope to hunt with you guys next week.

Mark

biggen 09-17-2008 05:14 PM

I hope you get to go Mark!!

Ronny 09-17-2008 05:40 PM

I hope you get to go Mark. I know you need some time with nature. Good luck

Chunky 09-17-2008 06:09 PM

Thanks guys, I don't feel that far from "nature" now, as I am peeing and washing in the front yard. :) but I know what you mean. It would be nice to be away for the week. I think I can work it out. I will make a decision by Sunday.

I hope you get to go! If you do, get me your flight info and I will be there Tuesday to pick you up!

txhunter 09-17-2008 09:32 PM

I am glad everyone seems to be ok. I, too, still don't have power. Just sitting outside during the day and going to sleep at dark.

BearOmni 09-18-2008 12:34 AM

Wife said she got power back on this afternoon in Madisonville.

Indi 09-18-2008 01:22 PM

Thankful that everyone is OK. I am relieved! Came through that area 2 days after the storm hit. Was in the back hills of southwest TX and had no contact with the outside for over 8 days so did not even know the storm had hit yet until we got back in cell service. Praise God for answered prayers.
