How many of you switch?

With gun season opening tomorrow, I was wondering how many of you folks lay down your bow and pick up your gun.

I'm going to stick it out with the bow.

Cull 11-02-2007 07:53 AM

Bow only for me.

txhunter 11-02-2007 08:39 AM

Bow only for me too. My son will be using a rifle until he can pull back 40#'s

Bill M 11-02-2007 08:40 AM

Bow only here also. My Dad is headed up this morning though to make a little gun noise. Glad he still can at 75.

Sean 11-02-2007 08:41 AM

I bowhunt only unless I sit with my son so I can back him up if I need to.

timhicks 11-02-2007 08:59 AM

Bow only for me..unless getting rid of some hogs in an open pasture..

bountyhunter 11-02-2007 09:29 AM

Well, I will hunt with my smokepole during the muzzleloader only season, but that's the next best thing to bowhunting.

Hot4huntin 11-02-2007 09:47 AM

Bow only for me too

Bweger 11-02-2007 09:55 AM

Bow only for me but my daughter will be shooting a gun.

2Racks 11-02-2007 10:46 AM

I am going to try to hunt only with my bow. I will have my son and his gun in the blind with me alot this season though. At least until X-mas when he gets his crossbow! :)

DraglineMan 11-06-2007 03:20 PM

I like hunting wth my Lymann Rifle about as much as with my Black Widow.

GW2210 11-06-2007 04:16 PM

Bow only for me. Anyone can get 100 yards from a deer!

treed 11-07-2007 09:54 PM

Well I've already made the switch, put up my Mathews block and tackle and now I'm dragging around me Sarrels longbow. But if I was going to use a lead pusher, then I'd get out my TC hawkins and burn a little charcoal.

Tomme 11-08-2007 08:51 PM

I don't know when I put down my rifle and started hunting exclusively with a bow, but I think it was in the late 80's. But I have been known to use a shotgun for dove. My arrows don't do much more than scare them.

Trailboss 11-08-2007 09:29 PM

Bow only for me. Past 20 years or so.

Trailboss

tinman 11-09-2007 09:21 PM

Bow only for about 10 years now.

If I'd had a lease when I broke my arm last year I mighta been tempted to knock the dust off my 30.06...but since I didn't have anything invested, I didn't hunt until I could pull a bow again.

cj7zrcool 11-12-2007 05:09 PM

I swing both ways! :D

grizz 11-12-2007 07:03 PM

10 years

I haven't used my guns in 10 years...custum cut carbine model Rem 74 30-06 w/ 3X9, Original Ruger M77 270 w/ 4X12 and Rem 1100 with Hastings Scope slug barrel w/leopold 1-4X and German Mauser 7mm. My boy wants to use BOW only so they are sittin.

MAybe when I retire I'll go north into Canada and Alaska and use them again.

Don't think I'd use the Ammo I've had stored

DraglineMan 11-26-2007 03:39 PM

Lois uses muzzle loader

My wife got deer with a black powder gun. It was one of those fancy in line ones

LostHawg 11-26-2007 04:13 PM

I mostly hunt with my longbow. When I want to take one or all of my kids, I carry my rifle. I do enjoy the kick of a rifle against my shoulder from time to time. Just something about being able to get them long distance that's exciting to me. Then again, there's something about getting them up close and personal that's exciting to me too.

Either way, I just can't wait to get back into the woods, weapon in hand...
