What Brad ask

MILNRICK 04-25-2013 08:50 AM

Someone may want to check out the Courtyard in Bryan. We stayed there last year, it was nice, family friendly, comfortable, and quiet - will probably stay there again this year.

It's been my experience that Courtyard will work with 'groups' to get a discouted rate IF they have a general idea of the number of rooms they'd need to block out.

BOBSTER 04-25-2013 07:30 PM

Thanks for the info Rick, I will pass this along to Dena. We have to find one that is reasonable and pet friendly for those that are bringing their dogs for the clinics.

Bob

BOBSTER 04-26-2013 07:25 AM

I just looked at the Courtyard and only service animals are allowed with people with disabilities.

MILNRICK 04-29-2013 02:08 PM

Not sure where it's located in relationship to the Fairgrounds, but the Residence Inn is 'family and pet' friendly. if you like, I'll see what sort of rates they'll offer to LSBA. How many hotel rooms would you anticipate needing?

BOBSTER 04-29-2013 07:13 PM

Thanks Rick, not sure what is going on with the Hotels in that area. Dena said that she has 3 or 4 calls into hotels right now, but they don't seem to want to return a answer. Not sure how many rooms normally get blocked for this. I will see if she knows anything else when she gets in tonight.

Reminder: If you want to stay at the Best Western under the LSBA discount, please reserve your room by May 31 (aka FRIDAY!)

Update on the rooms blocked for LSBA at the Best Western in Bryan........We still had rooms in our block available as of our deadline today (5/31); per our original contract we would have lost any un-booked rooms. However, we were able to change our arrangement with the hotel. We get to keep our block of rooms, but we do lose the discount - thus rooms in the block will continue to be available, but at regular rates. This is good news because rooms for that weekend are in short supply due to a large softball tournament in the area. So if you need a room, they are still available in the LSBA block at the Best Western - don't wait till the last minute though!

Here's an updated Flyer........and yes it does mention a LION HUNT in the Live Auction!!!;)

MILNRICK 06-08-2013 10:42 AM

The list of AUCTION PRIZES has REALLY caught our interest. Can we get some information about the LION HUNT in advance. What I'd like to know is:

Who is the Outfitter and PH?
What is the duration of the hunt, 5, 7 10 days?
Is this for a Lion or Lioness?
Will it be over bait, or spot and stalk?
Is there a minimum draw weight required?
Specific time frame the hunt MUST be taken by?

Thank you

Rick

Rick, I wasn't able to get a gator hunt this year for the banquet. Not sure if anyone else was able to or not.

Update on the Lion Hunt that was donated for our auction......Given that it's an expensive trip, we decided to give it more exposure by listing it on eBay (see link). Thus it will not be part of the Live Auction. However, this listing is set to end Saturday night during the Banquet; we hope to be set up such that if anyone there wants to bid on it they can log into eBay and do so. Otherwise hopefully we end up with a successful online auction in the midst of our Live Auction!

MILNRICK 06-18-2013 09:26 PM

RE: Lion Hunt

So, to bid on the hunt we'll need to bid via Ebay? When does bidding open and what if a potential bidder doesn't have an Ebay account?

Before we decide to bid I also need to ask if there will be any 'issues' obtaining a permit to hunt the animal with a bow. I ask solely because a close friend of ours successfully bid on a lion hunt last year at a Safari Club (forget whether it was the Dallas or Houston event), never the less the hunt was to happen this summer. Ten days ago he was informed that his 'bowhunt for a lion' was denied by the regulatory agency that oversees the methods and modes of dangerous game hunts.

Last question - are there any 'mininum draw weight' restrictions, or KE requirements?

See y'all this weekend

RH

BOBSTER 06-19-2013 07:34 AM

Rick, those are some really good questions. Hopefullywe can find out those questions and ad them to the auction. Thanks
