The Lone Star Bowhunters Association (LSBA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1974. It is the only State Organization representing your bowhunting rights.

The sole purpose of the LSBA is to unite the State’s bow hunters to work toward a common goal of preserving, promoting and advancing the sport of bowhunting in Texas.

Some of the LSBA’s goals are:

  • Conservation of Wildlife and its Habitat
  • Maintaining a close working relationship with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
  • Supporting local, state, and national wildlife, bowhunting/bowfishing, hunting, and archery organizations
  • Introducing Texas youth to archery by funding various National Archery in Schools programs (NASP) and through our Mobile Youth Archery Range Program
  • Promoting and supporting the International Bowhunter Education Program

    The Lone Star Bowhunters Association will be hosting two Youth Hunts during the 2017-2018 hunting season. Both of these hunts are archery only hunts and will be for whitetail deer (and possibly other animals).
    This is an LSBA member benefit and the youth (or their guardian) must be a member. of the LSBA to participate. If you are not currently a member, membership can be applied for the same time as applying for the hunt. These hunts are FREE and are open to kids 16 years of age and under on the start date of the hunt.

    Hunt #1: First Point Bowhunting which is located about half way between Eagle Pass and Uvalde.
    Hunt is from noon on Fri., Oct. 13th - noon on Sun., Oct. 15th, 2017
    10 kids, must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
    No crossbows on this hunt (ranch rules)
    Must provide your own hunting blinds/stands or build brush blinds Must provide your own food/drinks, bedding, hunting equipment, etc.
    Lodging is provided. Cooking facilities are available
    Deer must be tagged with the youth's tags from their hunting license

    Hunt #2:
    Devil's Canyon Ranch, Pumpville, TX
    Hunt is from noon on Fri., Jan. 12th - noon on Mon., Jan. 15th, 2018
    6 kids, must be accompanied by a parent/guardian
    Crossbows ARE allowed on this hunt
    Must provide your own pop-up style blind
    Must provide your own food/drinks, bedding, hunting equipment, etc.
    Lodging is provided. Cooking facilities are available
    This is an MLD 3 property; the ranch will provide tags for harvested deer
    Youth must still be properly licensed.

    Please review the information on the hunt you wish to apply for and please only apply for ONE hunt so that more kids will have this opportunity. Please make sure yours child is proficient with their archery equipment and that the equipment is capable of effectively harvesting a big game animal.

    1. Parent/guardian's name, phone number, and email address
    2. Child's name and age on the start date of the hunt you are applying for
    3. Child's T-shirt size (in case they are drawn for the hunt).
    4. Please title the email "Youth Hunt Drawing" or something to that effect in case it goes into my Junk mail box.

    The deadline for applications will be September 1st, 2017. I will draw names from the eligible applicants and will notify the winners within a few days. I will maintain a list of kids not drawn in case a second drawing is needed due to one or more cancellations.
