Thumbs up Texas Mule Deer Hunt

Well so far I have travelled to Colorado and hunted antelope with Fred Eichler, done a self guided elk hunt and lived thru the season of acorn *$!#$ for whitetails in Texas and haven't drawn blood yet!!! I am leaving early Wednesday morning to go hunt mulies with Flatrock Outfitters on the Lindsey Cowden Ranch in Upton County. This is the hunt I had to wrestle away from Ronnie at the banquet and I'm really looking forward to it. Dean has sent me some pictures of a few of the boys. I told him he might have to tie one up for me the way my year has gone. I'm starting off with the Palmer but takin' the Bow Tech as my back-up. Stand by for pics!!

Well I'm back and Buff you are right Dean has a great place and I loved seeing so many quality deer of both species. I come away heartbroken though. I was hunting with my recurve bow and shot a nice 7 pt. mule deer (same stand as you Ronnie) Shot looked good but unfortunately we weren't able to recover him. Dean was kind enough to allow me to help him with his whitetail doe management so I shot a couple of them yesterday morning. It was a great experience and if anyone else wants to try it you better start saving your nickels and dimes I'll be bidding it again at this years banquet.

Jack,
Sorry you were not able to locate your deer but glad Dean still was able to send you home with something for the cooler.

Sounds like a great hunt...and another one to add to my wish list! Come on lotto!!!
