Default Turkey during archery only season...

I was curious about shooting turkey during the archery season....

A turkey be shot with a bow during the archery only season, but, what sex can be legally taken?

Clearly it states either sex during the Fall season from 11-07-2009 to 01-03-2010, but it is not clear for archery only time frame Oct. 03- Nov. 06...unless I'm missing it.

Thanks!

From T&W site:
Turkey

The annual bag limit for Rio Grande and Eastern turkey, in the aggregate for all counties, is four (4), no more than one of which may be an Eastern turkey. For counties that have an Eastern Turkey spring season, there is no fall season.
  • Fall: Open season: November 7, 2009-January 3, 2010 (either sex).
  • Archery Only: October 3-November 6, 2009.

  • Special youth-only (general) fall turkey season: October 31-November 1, 2009, and January 16-17, 2010. Only licensed hunters 16 years of age or younger may hunt turkey during this season. Bag limit as specified by the general fall turkey season.
  • Spring: Rio Grande turkey: Open season: April 3-May 16, 2010 (gobblers only).

  • Special Youth-Only (Rio Grande turkey): Open season: March 27-28 and May 22-23, 2010.

Swat791, you need to refer to the Outdoor Annual. Each county has its own regulation on the turkey. Some will allow hens, bearded hens, and or just gobblers. Hope this helps. Bob

For some reason my 2nd post didn't post...

Let me clarify my question.

I was out and saw several hens within shooting range, but didn't shoot since I was not sure what the "book" said about hunting Turkey in the fall.

I am hunting in Travis County and when I looked up the information by animal it states what I originally posted in my first posting:
  • Fall: Open season: November 7, 2009-January 3, 2010 (either sex).
  • Archery Only: October 3-November 6, 2009.
It doesn't state what sex is allowed during the Archery Only season , so I was curious...
Can we shoot a turkey in the archery season and if so what sex or
since it is the Fall can either sex be taken during the Archery Only period?

I guess I was not clear in my first post. Go to the individual county listing in the outdoor annual. Travis county is located on page 89. It states "TURKEY-Archery Season: Oct. 3-Nov. 6 (either sex) Fall Season: Nov. 7 - Jan 3 (either sex). Spring Season: Apr. 3 - May 16 (gobblers only) Bag limit 4 (all seasons combined)." Hope this helps now. Bob

Thanks Bob!
I got it now...and I picked up a Outdoor Manual instead of looking it up on the web.

The TP&W site in theTexas Hunting Season for Travis Co does not have either sex written following the archery dates,
http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild...?county=Travis

however the booklet does...that explains the confusion on my end.

Look out birds.

With my luck now I won't see them til spring.

Not a problem, looks like you will be able to take whatever turkey walks out for you. Good luck. Bob
