Default Axis Hunting Questions

I'll be going to Leakey, TX next weekend for my first Axis hunt. Looks like we'll be hunting from Double Bull blinds and not on feeders. Tell me what I need to know to get a chance for a shot on a buck.

Thanks for the help.

I am the last guy to give tips on Axis hunting....it took me about 15 trips to finally get one. That one was because I had a good guide and even a blind hog...you know.

They are not corn hogs like WT, although they will eat corn. I have tried alfalfa hay with some success. They can be very spooky, espically the big bucks. They taste great. If you can shoot a doe, save the hide.

Oh yeah and pick a spot...in the right spot....

from my one experance hunting them, I would think setting up on the north end of the ranch, brush your blind in really well. Us good scent control and have some one set fire to the south end of the ranch.
good luck TB
