First stick and string Question

OK Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am thinking about getting a long bow and was wanting some of your advice. Should I start with a cheap bow or go all out and buy an expensive custom made bow. It will be a bit before I can afford either but want to start looking into and researching the bows and the makers. I know you all will steer me in the right direction. Thanks and hope to be a traditional shooter soon.

Nancy, I am no expert on traditionial by no means, but I think you can find a real nice long bow that is not real expensive to start with. You may also want to watch for used longbows that were built by some of our bowyers if you do not want to spend a lot right from the start. I believe Bob Lee had some bows that were discountinued that he was offering discounts. I hear a lot of good things about Sarrels longbows also. I am sure you will get some better advise from some of our traditionial shooters. Bob

The only thing I can add here for advice is, if this is your first traditional bow you might want to go with a recurve and not a longbow. Longbows are a bit harder than a recurve IMHO to learn to shoot instinctive because they are smoother without as much hand shock. Good luck which ever you decide.

My 2 cents worth. Shoot as many as you can before you buy. A longbow is alittle different than a recurve. I tried a lot (about 15) before I made my choice. The majority of them, including big name brands, would not make good fire wood.
