LSBA at TTHA Hunter Extravaganza - Houston
The show is over and the work is done. All things considered I think it was a successful event and has gone a long way toward achieving our goals of promoting bowhunting in Texas but it could have been even better had we had more help. We got so busy working with the kids we couldn't work on promoting LSBA to the adults. It does however sound like it was certainly better than the tournament.
Dena and Bobby went out and set up the booth on Friday and worked the first night. As all things with Dena things didn't exactly go smoothly. Our original location was so bad we considered pulling the plug before it ever got started but to TTHA's credit they moved us inside the hall to a great location. Dena, Bobby, Kevin Fitzgerald and Sharon worked Friday evening until closing. I worked the show all day Saturday and Sunday since the Kana's had to work the State Shoot. On Saturday we had several volunteers show up to help throughout the day, my wife Carrie, Jimmy Green, James Hamilton, Lynette Starr, the Belusek clan, Mark Johnson and Buff. The Kanas came out after a long day at the State Shoot and worked the vendors for donations to the banquet and drug Buff around to sell advertising.
On Sunday it was up to Brandon Ermis and myself for the day. Thank goodness the Beluseks were available that evening to help us tear down and pack out.
We had over 1000 kids shoot at our booth over the 3 day period, sold a few memberships and collected a few dollars in donations. We got a lot of exposure for one of our sponsors, Evotek Bows. The reponses about our participation from parents, vendors, and especially the kids were all positive. We should also be seeing an article about LSBA at this event in the Lonestar Outdoor News.
Thanks to all of you that volunteered your time to make this event a success and hopefully I didn't miss mentioning anyone.
I challenge every member of the EC to participate in at least ONE of these types of events each year. The benefits for our organization and our sport are immeasurable.
Hopefully some of the other folks will add their comments about this event.

Thanks to all that volunteered to help with the show, just wish we could have had more help  like Jack mentioned. The show was a blast and the kids really loved it, we even had some adults shoot a bow for the first time also. Thank you again for your help. Bob

The smile on the kids faces says it all. Once I figure out how to post my pics I will do so. I have about 15, so keep you eyes out for them.
I agree with Jack, I too challange the EC to attend at least one of these functions. I whole hartedly believe that once you see the smile on the faces of the future of our great sport, you will continue to come back.
Thanks to all that helped this weekend. It was a great time, and really great exposure for our organization.
THANKS AGAIN!!!!

for what it is worth, the kids shoots are the primary reason I am involved with the LSBA. The one at the TTH expo was as well run as any I have been involved with. Thanks to all that were involved in making it happen.

Over 1,000 kids is AWESOME!!!
That is what it is all about!!! I'm with Buff, I think it is important that we reach the future generation of bowhunters! I enjoy the kids' shoots so much! I'm sure Jack appreciated the air conditioned shooting much better than the previous event.
BIG THANKS to TTHA for inviting us to come out to their show. They did have us in a room WAY out to the side and we would not have had any traffic. Danny Hurtt from TTHA bent over backwards to find us a place inside the show. It was a great location! Thanks to all the volunteers for their hard work and efforts!!

How can I get some hard copies of LSBA info, and membership apps. I work with a lot of bowhunters that have never heard of LSBA, but after discussions with them I think I could get a few new members. A lot of these guys work in the field and dont have access to computers

Traildust, if you will PM me your address I will get some brochures in the mail to you. It tells about LSBA and also contains an application. Be sure to put that you referred them and you will be entered in our Membership Contest! Thank you for helping the organization grow and for your support of the LSBA!

Jack J. even got his picture in the Lone-star hunting News paper I found at Cabela's in Buda. Gave the paper to Steve Scott for him and Bobby to read as they go on their adventure to Lafayette this weekend to do their teach a kid to fish tank.
Congrats to all again and thanks for donating the time!
