Default Heart of Texas Bowhunting

We just got back this weekend and had a great hunt. This is one of the best run day leases that I have been to. I had a shooter buck in front of me the first morning but he had a broke g3. He would have scored over the 120 inch min. for an 8 pt. We saw several young 10's on the place. There is no problem in getting your doe. I waited till the last hunt to shoot mine because there were so many bucks running around I was hoping for the big one to come out. My hunting partner saw a shooter but was sure at the time. I feel this place gives you a good chance at getting a P & Y buck. There were 3 bucks shot this weekend, as of Sunday morning when we left. One was an 8 pt that scored 122 and 3/8. Another was a 10 pt that scored 126 and some change. The other was a young deer that scored 112.

Make sure you know how to age and score deer. There is a fine for shooting a buck to young. We had no problem aging deer there with the amount of bucks we were seeing. Listen to Kevin and Craig. They did an excellent job of helping us out. If they tell you that there are axis on your pasture you might want to listen to them. I didn't pay the extra 150 and had an axis buck feeding 18 yards away. I was kicking myself in the butt for that one. I will for sure go back it was well worth our money.

Tripods will work but ground blinds worked great there. The deer would notice them but they weren't spooked by them. We didn't do the best of jobs brushing them in but still had plenty of whitetails and axis not spook from them. I used my gametamer also and it worked really good.
