Yesterday afternoon about 3:00 I decided to change out rests on my GTO so I go in my shop and take my limbsaver dropaway off and put a Quad Ultra Pro series rest on. I tuned it and sighted my bow back in then headed off to the woods to attempt to kill a deer and or hog. I have been having hogs come in to my stand about 10:00 every night so I decided to sit there until 11:00 or midnight. I got in my stand about 4:30 and did a little prehunt video then settled in for the evening. I watched squirrels run around in the pecans trees for almost 2 hours without having an opportunity at a shot at any of them. I was attempting to connect my Blackberry to the internet so that I could do a semi-live hunt. I was having problems and in a semi fit I looked up and saw a bobcat sneaking through the underbrush. I didnt have time to turn the camera on cause he was about to get away. I pretty much knew how far he was so I came to full draw and settled my 50 yard pin behind his shoulder and waited. The cat stopped broadside and I hit the release. I heard the arrow hit him and saw him jump about 3 foot straight up. He took off toward the creek and I listened to him running through the leaves. I heard a splash and figured he ran through the creek so I got down and found my arrow then started following the blood trail. It was not a problem to follow blood since it looked like someone was pouring it out on the ground. I followed the blood up to a straight up and down drop on the creek bank and thats where I lost the blood. I looked down in the creek and saw the cat laying dead in the edge of the creek. I crawled down and got him and went back to my stand. I did a little video stuff then layed him at the base of my tree then I climbed back up in my ladder stand. I wasnt in the stand maybe 3 minutes when I saw 4 doe coming toward me from a hay field. The doe were watching my horses as they came toward me. They got to within 60 yards of the tree line and stopped. I guess they didnt want to come past the horses because they turned around and headed back the way they came. By this time it was pretty dark so I settled back to wait on the hogs. About 8:00 I heard something moving toward me so I sat real still and waited. When I heard it crunching corn I picked up my bow and came to full draw. I hit the button on the hawglite and saw the 4 doe that I had seen earlier eating my corn. I let down and hung my bow back up and sat back down. Around 10:00 I heard something else coming then I heard a grunt. I picked my bow back up and turned my pin light on and came to full draw. I hit the button on the hawglite and there was the spotted hog I have been after. The battery on my lite was to low and I couldnt see through my peep. I opened my left eye and tried to line up my sight on him and let the arrow fly. I shot right over the top of him and he just stood there. I knocked another arrow and hit the light he was still therebut before I could get off another shot he walked back into the brush and headed on up the creek. I climbed down out of my stand and got my arrow and headed to the truck. I am going to put a new battery in my light and go back tonight for another try.
