The LSBA will host a youth archery range at May Fest in Ft. Worth on May 7th and 8th at Trinity River Park. We'll be partnering with TPWD at this event to introduce urban kids to archery and bowhunting. This will be the largest event we have done with TPWD since the annual Outdoor Expo in Austin was cancelled a couple of years ago.
Volunteers are needed to help kids safely fling a few arrows at 3D targets and balloons. We are not teaching archery, our goal is to make sure every youngster that shoots a bow and arrow with us has a fun experience and leaves with a positive attitude about archery and bowhunting. You don’t need to be an archery instructor, all you need is to come out and help us have fun. We’ll show you what to do.
Every volunteer will have free admission to May Fest and will get a TPWD May Fest T-Shirt. Parking is free for volunteers. We’re hoping to get enough volunteers to have 4 hour shifts. Help out for 4 hours and then enjoy all the other events at May Fest.
May Fest is a long running event in Ft. Worth but this will the first year the LSBA and TPWD will participate. This is a major event and we are pulling out all the stops. Those that helped out with our youth archery range at the TPWD Expo in Austin in past years can appreciate the number of kids we expect to see at May Fest. We need every LSBA member to step up and volunteer. We will not be successful if we don’t get volunteer support from the membership. We have the bows, arrows, 3D animals, targets and balloons to have as many shooting lanes as are needed. What we don’t have are enough volunteers. No youth will be charged a penny by the LSBA or TPWD for shooting with us.
If you’ve ever wanted to help out with one of our youth archery ranges this is a great opportunity and we really need you. Come out and meet other LSBA members and help us promote and preserve the future of bowhunting in Texas by helping kids safely fling a few arrows. I guarantee you will enjoy the experience. We've never had a volunteer that didn’t enjoy working with kids and want to come back. Volunteering at one of our youth events is very rewarding. You won’t regret it, I promise.
