Talking Goin back to South Africa!

I cant wait! I went to South Africa back in 2008 with Landrover. That lucky dawg won the LSBA Membership Drive hunt that Dare To Bowhunt donated. Couldnt have asked for a better hunting experience. Ms Allison and Lammie were the perfect hosts. The lodge was first class. We had a great time. Shot some nice animals. Saw animals and birds that I would never see in the USA (not counting a zoo or game ranch).

Well, I've been wanting to go back ever since the tires of the plane left the ground on our way home! I had planned on goin back with Oscar last summer, but my son broke is arm the week b4 Thanksgiving in 2009. They set his arm (tried) in the ER. Couple of weeks later was his check up. The x rays did not look good, so we had to go in and have surgery to set his arm (tried). The bones didnt set right and had to go back to the hospital for surgery #2. This time it took 2 1/2 hours to set the bones using two pins. My son took it all like a champ. he was in a cast from November til February (missed all of the huntin season).

After my sons first surgery, my wife had to go to the ER for a kidney stone. She was admitted for surgery that evening. Long story short, she was back at the hospital a week later. for surgery #2. So after deductables, hospital bills and doctor bills and an upcoming Disney trip, my extra hunting money was all but gone!

But, I was able to talk my dad into goin with me back to South Africa this summer! (also had to promise my wife we would go to Hawaii for her 40th birthday next summer!) Dad and I leave July 29 and are gonna hunt July 31- Aug 7. We'll be huntin again with Ms Allison and Lammie at Dare to Bowhunt, but in the Kalahari this time. We'll be less than an hour from the Botswana border. I'm after a kudu, gemsbok, springbok and maybe a zebra. My dad for sure wants an impala and gemsbok. Anything after that will be icing on the cake.

I've already started brushin up on my Zulu and Africaan (yeah right!), stockin up on broadheads and got a new release! We dont leave for another 6 1/2 - 7 months and I'm already losin sleep! I was daydreamin on the way to work the other mornin. I was killin some BIG animals, let me tell ya! Next thing I knew, I had completely passed up my exit where I get off to go to work! Needless to say, I am pumped!

Thanks! I am so ready for July to get here! I already have a list a mile long. I know I'll mark most of it off b4 I pack. I took way too much un needed stuff last time we went. Packin light this time. I will have ample supply of arrows and broadheads!

Why dont you grab your bow and go with us? We have room for two more hunters!

Maybe in a couple of years, I can experience Africa if New Zealand does not call me back before then

Good luck skeeter! I went for my first time in '09. I am going back at the end of June '11. I can't wait. I just wish i could get someone else to go with me. My wife went last time and she is not a hunter.

Looks like we will be comparing picks and stories this coming summer.

Good luck to you and Mr. Vince, Dan! I am jealous! I cannot wait to get back to South Africa!

Psst... I think you meant your wife's 29th birthday.

Bisch,
who are you gonna be huntin with? Got any particular animals in mind? Good luck! If you see any good airline deals, let me know!

Ms Dena,
My bad, I was goin by metric years. 40 standard years converts to 29 metric years, doesnt it...or is it 27? I cant remember?

At first Dad acted like he wasnt sure if he wanted to go. Now that we have set a date, I bet i have talked to him everyday at least once a day! Its gonna be fun. I cant wait. He called me today and asked, "did you know that where we are gonna be huntin is the #1 rated area for lions? What are we gonna do if we see a lion?" I just told him, "try your best not to be last in line!"
