Default next magazine

Hey Roger or any who know,

When is the next magazine expected to hit our mail boxes?

When is the deadline for the following one?

Is there a target publication date for the issues this year?

Thanks,

Mark

It's just that I look forward to it so.

Roger has been out of the country for the past couple of weeks. I believe he will be uploading the mag to the publisher this weekend or next week. He still needed a couple of items before he left town.

Tracy~The Banquet is June 7th. All of the ballots have been turned in to the EC.

Hello everyone! I am still waiting on a column from Bob. I hope he can send me something and have the issue to the publisher by Monday.

I would love to have deadlines so I can get the issues back on time. But then what do I do if I don't have everything I need or everyone wants in the issue?

I understand your position Roger.

I am not the person with the power to tell you.....but it seems to me that this has been a problem for a very long time.

I would get deadlines set at the beginning of the year. We had a thread on this about 6 months ago. I think that Buff could probably have some input, because it is critical to keep the advertisers happy.

Once that is done...when the deadline comes, put out the magazine. If someone does not get their column or article in...tuff bananas, learn to be on time.

We have to be professional here if we want to be treated the same.

As long as we allow people to drag the deadline...they will continue to do so.

If I had a sword I would draw a line in the sand...lol

Anyway, looking forward to the next installment, keep up the good work, we never say we appreciate it enough. Thanks.

Chunky I couldn't agree more. Sounds like something we need to look at in the near future.

DoubleJ and Chunky, I will second that, in a month or so. I hope that we can have enough stories or articles to take the place of the ones that do not get in on time. By the way, did anyone read the LSBA article in the TTH mag. It was written by our very own Membership Chairperson and had a couple pics of the prettiest little girl. Bob

I agree with everything that Bob and Chunky say. It might also help if the Editor (in this case Roger) would Jack up people with regular columns or who need to get in that special announcement about an upcoming function about a week before you are sending it in. To me that would be the line drawn in the sand.

I edited a buttload of stories and sent them in. We should have plenty.
Deadlines are good!

I would love to have deadlines so I can get the issues back on time. But then what do I do if I don't have everything I need or everyone wants in the issue?

If they want in the issue they need to meet the deadline! =)

That all sounds/looks great on paper...and that's exactly what you'll be seeing in some issues if it were handled that way. Paper, as in lots of blank pages.

Take it from someone who's done the Editor job, you can't always go to print on a deadline because we are often still trying to fill pages with quality content. I'm not talking about a missing officer's report, the 3D schedule or Event Announcement that someone didn't turn in yet but "has to be in there" but simply not having enough stories contributed inbetween issues can be a major problem...not to mention balancing the magazine with a real work schedule.

We would all like to have our magazines like clockwork but when you throw in the fact that the US Postal Service can sit on the mags (Bulk Mail) for 6 weeks even after they've been shipped by the publisher and it's out of our hands, more often than not that's just not going to the reality. Members and advertisors should know that this is the case, IMO.

Ndn, sent an article this AM.

I know what you are saying Tinman, and thanks again for your time served.

If that is the case then we need to have several issues worth of stories on hand and try and keep ahead of the game. How do we do that, we need to keep encouraging everyone to write...especially new members.

We could also have some other fillers....like member interviews or in desparation reprint some of the best articles from a couple of years ago....maybe a fill a couple of pages with pics.

We can not help the bulk mail situation, we just have to live with that. We do not have to make it worse. WE NEED DEADLINES AND WE NEED TO MEET THEM!

I know how big a job it is...so is president, treasure, membership, advertising, etc
All of us on the EC do what we can. When I started this, I really only wanted info. Then when I re-posted it was not a slam at Roger....far from it. He said something like it was almost ready, but he was waiting on a couple more things. My issue was more with those people, and I don't even know who it was. Doesn't matter.

And you are wrong about one thing, the advertisers don't have to "just understand that". They can and will go somewhere else. People are not going to advertise a fall hunting special in the fall issue that comes out in a Dec magazine. The ads that Buff is selling have revitalize our organization...the magazine is key to the continuing success.

Not the first time we have disagreed Joey, you know I still love ya.
