Exclamation MRSA Staph infection

this is some bad stuff yall.

Let me warn you, the pix are nasty!

http://hubpages.com/hub/MRSA_Staph_Infection

I had never heard of it til i got it in my right knee! Been off work for over a week now. Thought it was an insect bite. Never could get it to go away. The swelling and redness got worse. Could barely walk. Went to the ER where they lanced the wound (that was gross!), squeezed out the gunk, obtained samples to have lab work done, inserted a gauze packing, got some IV antibiotics, pills, streroids, pain killers, the works.

Went back to the dr last friday and got the results from the culture. Thats when they told me it was MRSA Staph. I didnt realize how bad this stuff was til I got home and started reading about it. Just got home from the doctor. Wound is ALOT better. Still sore, dont have full range of motion in my knee, but no swelling or signs of infection. Supposed to go back to work tomorrow.

All I can say is "40 SUX!" I turned 40 last November and I have had more things happen to me in the last three months than I've had happen the 39 years prior!

Yikes! MRSA is scary stuff. I know two people that have been hospitalized with MRSA for over three months on heavy duty IV antibiotics. Both contracted it in a hospital setting. It can affect your internal organs, including your heart.

My son has had MRSA also. When he was seven, he contracted impetigo. Since then, he has been susceptible to staph infections. The first one took almost a year for him to get over and left scaring in some areas on his arms and legs.

Keep some of the topical cream on-hand in the event you have an outbreak and cannot get to the doctor for a day or so. Also, anyone who is assisting you with wound care needs to take special precautions, such as washing hands in bleach-water and anti-bacterial soap after caring for the wound.

Good luck, Dan! Prayers sent for a quick recovery!

Thanks yall. This really sux. I have never been one to get sick, or go to the dr. I usually just tuff it out when I get a cold or uri. But the last few times I've been sick, its been bad. My dr told me that my system is gettin beat down cuz my TMBD levels are too high. That had me concerned cuz I didnt know what TMBD's were.

He said "Too Many Birth Days!"
