Would ya take the shot.
You're on the ground walking to the stand. 12 yards in front of you a 750 pound boar hog walks slowly onto the path your on 90 degrees/broadside. Tusks are awesome and he doesn't know you're there. Catch, the only cover is some 3' high catclaw, prickly pear, tasajilla and about 15 - 20 new growth mesquite.
Would ya put your broadhead through his ribs? Would ya?

Then again....Kim tells me daily that I'm a dumb a$$...LOL

SP!KE LIVES!!!!!
See, the reason I asked is that I would take the shot too. Just couldn't help myself.
I saw the same question asked on another website and I thought I'd give us Texans a chance to answer too. Most of those on the other site were too concerned with whether they were in a treestand or not. :P

I'd shoot first and worry about side stepping later.

I would shoot and did so on just about the same setup as that at the Callaghan Ranch this year. Had about 20 pigs feeding directly towards me and they were so busy eating that they got to within about 15 yards before I side stepped to get a broadside shot. Didn't think about what the pigs were going to do, just wanted some sausage.
My Georgia brothers would have been scared s********less.
I have been hunting in Texas, tooooo long!

Well, the point is that they don't always just fall down when shot. And that is a large hog.
I know, that would not be my concern. My concern would be "Dang that's HUGE, lot of bacon. Aim small, miss small."
Breath, draw, anchor, thwump!!!!

Sure I'd take the shot. Leastwise that's my story here at the computer in my living room and I'm sticking to it. Afterward how fast can you run, dodge or wrestle.
As for screaming like a girl hogslayer...that had nothing to do with the hog. It was because there was this idiot on the other side of the pig about to take another shot with me dead in line. Come to think of it Hogslayer,YOU were that idiot. Besides, it was a mellow baritone scream. Nothing girllike about it at all.
