Default Spring 2007 issue...

Sorry (to all Members reading) that we are running behind with this issue, we were very short on article submissions and there was a lot for Roger to organize during the layout process of this issue with lots of new advertisers, a new EC page, Regional Shoot schedule and results, etc... It wasn't a 'plug-and-play' layout and it has taken us some time to organize and get together.

Due to obligations at our real jobs, it's getting harder and harder to budget the time it takes to put together a good-looking magazine. Roger's time is stretched very thin at work and sadly he's informed us that this will have to be his last issue to help by doing the layout of the magazine. Being at a point where I'm spending more and more time on jobsites myself, I can appreciate his position and want to say thanks to Roger for the countless hours you've logged over the last two years of working on this together. The dedication to putting together a good-looking magazine and the effort put into producing one everytime has been greatly appreciated, brother. Two years ago we didn't even know each other, today I'm happy to call Roger my friend.

Because of this change, we're needing to find someone that has experience with PageMaker/Correll or similar desktop publishing program and most importantly, the time to volunteer to help with the layout of the quarterly magazine. It can sometimes take 40 hours or more for each issue. Sometimes less...sometimes more. If anyone is interested in helping with this, please contact me as the SUMMER issue is already in the works.

I do also need articles for the SUMMER/FALL issues, please e-mail submissions to me with pictures as separate attachments.

I want to through in my kudos as well. You two have been doing a bang up job with the magazine. I do not have any computer skills past typing about 5 words a minute with maximum mistakes. (I use spell check and back space a bunch!) Otherwise I would try to help out.

Thanks for your time Roger. Our magazine has been looking better and better the last couple of years.

Joey, if I weren't on dial-up at the house, I'd sure volunteer some of my time. I just hate going on that computer anymore since I turned off my cable modem. Its a slow beast, it is, and a pain in the posterior as well. Its an evil MONSTER I tell ya!!!

Those cover shots have been great. You will be missed Roger.

Who did you get to pose for that pic. You can tell it's a pose. No one really shoots a stickbow like that!

Hey, My arrow's famous now. All grown up. Has its very own cover shot on the magazine. Excuse me while I wipe a tear. :P

Monte? I'm terrible with names. His name WAS Monte wasn't it??? I hate forgetting people's names.

Steve, I don't take the photos, I just put the logo on. Anyone can do it with the right software.

Speak for yourself Roger. I sure can't do it. There would be stick figure drawings, xeroxed in black and white and stapled on the cover if I had your job. ops:

I think you know how much I've appreciated the job that you and Joey have been doing on the magazine. Always tough to find enough volunteers to step in and do a good job for LSBA, and you and Joey have turned out a fantastic magazine. Take care of your family and your job, but don't disappear.

The new artwork looks great on there! Nice job using colors in the logo to pull that out even more! Very, very nice job!!!!

Losthawg's correct...well 'cept for the spelling. That's Monty McGonagill from Waxahachie on this issue's cover...and I think he really does shoot like that?

I got a few lucky shots while playing with my new camera and let some members pick which of the three to use...I couldn't decide but I was leaning toward the pic of Tracy with his longbow until someone said that this was the only pic that looked like he was actually hunting rather than shooting at a UFO.

I have these post-edit versions of the two pics framed on my home office wall...they really look good in B&W too.

Monty again (same shot as the cover)...

Tracy "Losthawg" Cannon...

BTW (everyone), I do plan to beg Roger to keep doing the covers for us...so keep buttering him up!

Here's a B&W of the third image we were looking at for this issue...would have used the color version of course.

I got a pretty good picture of Linedawg this weekend...

Well, its my arrow anyway...

I was aiming up the hill/slight incline. MontY chose to aim out across the open space of the canyon. Buff's view from his cabin is awesome.
