Default Heads up on tagging your deer

I'm not sure if this is something they changed this year, but you are now required to completely remove the month and day from each tag and not just fill them in with ink.

It has been a requirement for the past several years to cut out the month and date on the tag along with entering the ranch name and county. You are now also required to fill out the log on the back of the license as well.

The most often cited violation of game laws is improper tagging of game.

Hope everyone gets lots of practice filling them out.

Actually Spike as DoubleJ says it's been a requirement since (I believe) 1993 that you cut it out. Seems they had too many people "washing" their tags.

So which is it? Have you been improperly tagging your deer (so we can turn you in for the rewards) or does this mean you just haven't got one in the last ten years ? I know you're good on hogs, but deer? Based on your picture of the action around your feeder this may be the year so make sure you tag em right.

Making sure you log in the ranch/county etc. is relatively new (I think they started that last year) and is very important as that is the way the wardens determine if you are abiding by the one county, east zone/west zone etc. rules. A little funky, but a great improvement in my mind over the wierd, multi tag licenses of several years back.

Good luck to all you guys this weekend. I'm taking my wife for a delayed birthday trip to the coast so my first hunt will be next week.

What can I say. I come from a long line of outlaws. I didn't realize it was legal to hunt deer in the daytime until I was about 12 years old.

Daytime hunting? What a novel innovation for East Texas! What will they think of next? Limits?

Help yourself Proforce. I got an 18" Flounder on opening day morning, but I'll be out there during the week on Ft Hood.
