Default Muley Down

I am back and I had a great trip

September 5
Flew into Idaho, got settled in shot my bow, bought my deer tag and got to bed early for the next day.I could not sleep at all.

September 6

Came early, alarm went off at 3:30AM and my buddy and me where off to the mountains. We got to the place we wanted to unload the 4 wheelers at about 5,we unloaded and took off to a cayon that produces every year. We get there around light, set up the spotting scopes and wait.As soon as it was light enough to see we found out there was deer all around us. Alot of does and small buck for most of the morning.

Then about 1 hour after light I spot a nice four point with a few small bucks in a little draw, my heart started racing, I knew the hunt was on. We watched the feed for about 2 hours and let them bed down, I made my first stalk in Idaho, only to be busted at 20 yards by a little 2x2.

By this time it was about lunch, so we walked back the the 4 wheelers and started back to the truck. On the way back we passed a small 3x3 on the side of the road.My buddy wanted to see how close he could get. so while he was messing around with him. I set up my spotting scope and started glassing the rim rock, that is when I found my buck in a picture perfect spot. I snapped a few pics through the spotting scope, made a plan for the stalk and was off for the second stalk of the day.

This buck was on a steep hill in the rocks, I walked around got on top of the hill and the wind in my face.Sat down only about 150 yard for the buck, caught my breath and slipped my boots off and started sneaking down the hill.
I got to where I thought the buck should be and kneeled down and waited for him to stand up and move. I was only about 40 yard form his bed. It was only about 10 minuts when I heard his hoof hit a rock. Then I seen his rack! I knew then that I was going to get a shot at this deer, he came on the trail 25yards form me. I pulled the good old Mathews back to full draw settled my pin behind his front shoulder and let the stiker fly. The buck jumped ran down the hill into a little patch of trees. Once I stopped shaking, I climmed up on a rock and watched the tree patch for about an hour, when I never seen him come out I knew I had him, and could not wait to get my hand on him.
