Default Thanksgiving Hunt

Since my wife had to work Thanksgivng I was given a kitchen pass to go to the deer lease. I had the whole lease to myself, so I hunted a stand where we had been seeing some Axis deer. There is no feeder just a green patch the landlord plants for us. Wednesday afternoon I saw about ten Axis with no shots. Thursay morning I saw twenty-two Axis, two being real nice bucks. None of them offered me a shot as they all left the field. About 9:30 I heard something and looked behind me and a nice Axis buck jumped the fence into the field. I had ranged three rocks laying in the field. One was at twenty, one was at twenty-seven, and one was thirty-nine. He stopped right at the rock that was at thirty-nine yards. I was at full draw at this time. And I let a carbon arrow fly. True to its mark, it got both lungs. He never moved until the arrow went through him. He ran about sixty yards and piled up. This is the first Axis buck I have ever taken. And he was free ranging. He's not the biggest buck I have seen on our place, but he's the biggest buck that has been within bow range. I'll send Bowjunkie a picture and see if he will post it for me.

Man that is a real nice buck. Congrats on taking a free ranging Axis.

You are killing more critters than anthrax

Thanks for sharing the story with us poor slobs who spent all day with the In-Laws listening to how much better they are then me, what a sinner I am for not being a Baptist and how Kim married beneath herself....lol.

Okay so the last part is true 8)

Once again congrats and for taking us along for the hunt in your story!
