Tomme, I know you went hunting up there so how about a report on the ranch? I was thinking about going hog hunting up there but would like to hear how your hunt went and how the facilities were.

We had a wonderful hunt. David is a great guy, they have a lot of hogs (including some real big ones), and the facilities are nice. You can bring stands, but I never took my tripods out of the truck. He has tripods and ground blinds set up already, so save the room. You might want to throw in a pop up, just in case you found a spot, but otherwise, I wouldn't bother.

Jon and I both had shots the first evening. I got one that probably went a little more than 100 lbs. and Jon got one slightly smaller. His was along a creek and we had some tough tracking through some of the thickest greenbriar you can imagine.

After tracking two, cutting up, etc, I was not nearly as motivated. Jon on the other hand was talking about buying a freezer. He had a really big one come past on the second evening, but it didn't stick around long enough for a shot.

So final score was two hogs and a rattlesnake with nine rattles.

Accommodations are very good. Clean bunkhouse, with six bunks. Two bathrooms, and the kitchen/cooking area is on one end, where you go outside to get to it. That way you don't end up with cooking smells on your clothes. Nice cleaning area and I liked the industrial sabre (?) saw as it made cutting out the ribs easy.

I'd give the place two thumbs up for hogs, and based on the turkeys I saw, I think it would be good for those also.

Good luck.
