Timm,

They haven't officialy listed the sites yet or by what means you can hunt. Just based on past experience with most of these locations, there should be ample archery opportunities available at almost all of them. Looks like they added a few new ones, but also deleted some old ones.

Here's a link to the 44 State Parks listed. I count 101 archery deer permits available on State Park Division lands for the 2004/2005 season. More archery permits will be offered through the Wildlife Division.

In the 2002/2003 season there were 145 archery permits available on State Park Division lands. I don't have the statistics for the 2003/2004 season here, (I have them at home), but it looks like the number of archery permits on State Park Division lands is declining.

I think that LSBA needs to be strongly pushing for increased opportunities at these Parks. As you know we worked up some good ideas and a proposal to greatly increase hunting opportunities last year. So far as I know all that was done with that proposal was to simply hand it to Parks and Wildlife. With those guys a simple please just isn't enough. We need to push the idea.

I'd like to see us (LSBA) meet with Parks and Wildlife to get them to commit to ways to increase bowhunting opportunities at Parks and WMAs. At the same time I think a letter/email writing campaign from this site and others such as Texasbowhunter and the Bowsite should be done to apply some friendly pressure. The meek may inherit the earth, but the squeaky wheel gets more bowhunting opportunities (ok, so I mangled the metaphor, but you get the idea).
